Hi all.

Posting on behalf of a friend with no internet access.

He has bought his second vr6 to replace the first he foolishly sold to purchase a mk4 TDi !ill

He had cat back supersprint System with straight through pipes, on his previous car and is unsure wether to use the same for this.

He has called a couple of places today, that have given conflicting info, hence the thread for advice from the guys in the know.

Hes looking for a system giving a subtle exhaust tone, and was looking at either Miltek system, or sticking with Supersprint but with the boxes this time.

AMD and Awesome GTi use Miltek, but we are unsure if this is due to them being the best brand for the job, or if they get themself a good deal with prices ;)

He has heard you are supposed to get a better preformance gain from a Supersprint, but someone else has said Miltek provideds the same sort of gains.

So my question is, what experiance have people had from each of these systems, what are the pros and cons of each.

Obiously the Miltek benifits from stainless steel tubeing, and is slightly cheaper than the mild steel Supersprint.

Are there any more systems he should look out for instead?

Thanks for any advice you may have.

If your on budget go for the Miltek as it's a 2 box system and it's quite reasonably priced. If you are going to buy one try www.icjperformance.co.uk. They have sound cilip of a corrado vr6 with this system so you can get an idea of it.

If your not a budget some members highly recommend the supersprint for the build quality, but i don't think they are stainless steel, and as you have had one previously you should know what to expect from this system.

I recently changed my exhaust for SS type, and as i wanted quite as possible i went for 3 box custom system with my choice of tail pipes.

Most of the so called performance exhaust are 2 box system. The only 3 box off the shelf exhaust i found was the Jetex system.

Hope this helps

Have a look at the 'Parts. Suppliers and Companies' section for recommendations. I have a Longlife custom build system and am quite pleased with it. It's reasonably quiet (you can choose the sound output to an extent) and performance, fit and finish are all good. You shouldn't expect massive increases in power or torque, just an improvement, it's the turbo engines that benefit the most. With a good system you should see a noticeable gain in torque, economy and a small increase in power. Best matched to a decent air filter. I have a K&N panel filter in the standard airbox and despite what others say, I find it ok. With the custom build route the price includes fitting, choice of tailpipes and tailpipe location. Hope this helps.
