VR6CABBS 1,311
Dan put an ice hockey puck in between your front engine mount it lifts the sump nicely. I had half a sump plug nut too on my 2.8 lump but I lifted my 2.9 and it's got a nice amount of clearence nowI've always wondered if this was safe to do. Are them pucks solid? Is it easy enough to do?
dj-madman 146
iv also heard that if you throw the balance of the engine then it wont run i.e fuel mixture wont be correct, and the engine will be working on a constant incline. maybe im wrong or your engine is irish
daveyboy 897
Mine runs fine. The pucks are made from vulcanised rubber so there fine as spacer mounts. If your worried Dan you could put 3 pucks in 1 on each mount. It's easy to do cabbs you just need to get longer bolts Edited December 30, 2014 by daveyboy

I'll see how low it sits when my new wheels come and might look at doing that. It's speed lump capital of the northwest in Manchester now. There everywhere. Cheerscan go for that slammed look without being impractical! one thing i hate is when you hear the grinding of either the exhaust, wishbones or seals as you go over a speed bump incorrectly. and then everyone looks round lol at the local shopping car park i cant get up the in ramp, have to go in at an angle or i pull the front end under the wheels
daveyboy 897
I haven't went through any mate......well not yet lol. Drive shafts are fine. It's a common solution from smashing sumps and cheaper than putting an R32 sump on VR6CABBS
dj-madman 146
thats cool. to be honest after i was told that the engine wouldnt run correctly i disregarded the whole process. but if your running it and its working then its definately something to think about. maybe i can run my coilies a little longer while i save up for my air bags! dj-madman 146
ah, how much do the pucks raise the motor up by?
daveyboy 897
About an inch mate. Just enough to bring the sump in line with the subframe

Some good quality exhaust clamps. When I fitted the cat back system I used stainless steel u clamps and cut the excess off the bolts. I'm sure there must be better clamps than them. Anyone got any ideas? If that exhaust suddenly starts blowing it will piss me right off. Haha Bealieboy
dj-madman 146
jubilee clips and gungum?? haha or just plain welding. not really ideal as you need some flex, but at least there will be no clamps to catch.

Are you crazy Dan? Lol. Don't you mean u clamps? Haha. I seen some a while back on some bodies project on here and they were good quality one. Don't get me wrong the stainless one I used are good but don't see them holding forever. They sort of bent went I tightened them.

Big J 283
Get on the google for mikalor clamps lads, used these for high pressure blowers on powder tankers in my last place, they will work a treat on stainless systems.
dj-madman 146
like these J?
Big J 283
You've got it, get a couple of those on there. The miltek I had on my r32 used those, never had a blow on that.
VR6CABBS 1,311
Yes there the ones I've seen. Forget what size I used on my miltek now. It's gotta come off shortly anyway to fit my decat so will invest in some of them. Bealieboy
dj-madman 146
They certainly look like they have more clearance than standard u clamps
VR6CABBS 1,311
They certainly look like they have more clearance than standard u clampsClearance isn't to bad on the stainless u clamps I've used mate because I've turned them sidewards and cut the excess off the end of the bolts. I just don't trust them as when I was tightening them up they were bending and crushing. I think a slight knock and my car would sound like a Sherman tank. Haha
daveyboy 897
That's the clamps I was gonna say to get as big j mentioned. I was gonna use them on my system but decided blue tak and cable ties would be stronger lol Bealieboy
