dom.joy 87
Is poly bushing the front subframe just a case of supporting engine and loosening the front engine mount then the 4 bolts the bushes pass through, cut old bushes out, squeeze new ones in and re-fit? Cheers
c00k 435
Plus release and drain power steering. As one of the pipes loops under the front cross member. And it not easy to get the old plates out that keep the bushes in place. New one can be ordered from VW if you can't get them off with out damage.I managed to get mine off with a blow torch and tapping the top wash / plate off. While holding crossmember in vice. dom.joy 87
Ah yeah I forgot about power steering. Think I'll leave it, was only thinking as I'll have the front end off soon that I could do them at the same time but might not bother
CALICO 130
Its only 1 bolt that holds the power steering to it with the front end off you can get it out.

c00k 435
You might be able to squeeze the cross member between pipe, and leave it connected, one of the pipes loops under crossmember and is tightly fitted. I took mine off and drained fluid. as I was sandblasting the crossmember, so also sand blasted power steering cooling pipe as well. And replaced flexy with braided hose. CALICO 130
I managed to get mine off without disconnecting any of the power steering pipes.
VR6Pete 1,455
For the cost of power steering fluid you might as well drain and refill, at least at the expense of your knuckles c00k
dom.joy 87
Tbh it was just an idea whilst I was taking front end off for installing external oil cooler that if it was a simple task I'd do them at the same time.I'll have a look when I get the front end off and see if i can be bothered hahathanks guys VR6Pete
VR6Pete 1,455
If you have the pink ATF fluid in then you should drain it and put the right stuff in
