do you seal the headgasket where the timing chain covers squash it?

as title, can you use a bit of rtv black sealant here or not on the vr6 engine?

I used a bit of the non-setting type, on both sides of the gasket.  The blue hylomar stuff or that wellseal stuff.  Only a very light smear of it though.
