Bora 4motion Vs Subaru liberty(Legacy) 3.0 6sp

Guest silyka

Hi,

I was wondering how would bora fair up against the Liberty 3.0 AWD from Subaru on a race track.

I recently become a proud owner of a Bora 4motion and my friend bought a Subaru liberty 3.0 6cyl 6spd awd. So I am interested to know your thoughts.

thanx,

silyka

  • 2 years later...

i had a great blast down cornwalls A30 on monday in my VR6 against a swiss reg golf 4 motion. i know he could have had me but i new the twisty bits better off the dual carriageway. got an indicated 125 out of mine though at one point.

No harm, no foul.

obd2 has more than 174 bhp ?

so come on pete u are the proud owner of both golfs

whats better and why

i will say the 4 motion is more solid built and safer

the dash nicer and love the blue dials

will a BMC filter from vr6 fit on to 4 motion?

pete how come your leather is not recaro was it import or option extra

what mods r u looking to make? is the insurance slighty lower?

my OBD 2 had 185 standard and once tuned to 210 (cams and re-map) it loved leaving 4motions, on the motoway that is, never raced one off the mark but reckon i would of been there despite mine only being fwd, taking into account similar bhp but 4motions are heavier!

didnt the later vr6 have a diffrent ecu/injection system or likewise thus giving a bhp closer to the 2.9 id bet if u did the same to the 4motion it would leave your 210 bhp vr6 fo dust lol

HA HA its not what you drive its who's driving it that really matters lol!

OBD2 was a different management system i think they changed em in 1996, plenty of rumours as to whether OBD2 engines had more power but when i had 210 on the RR when it should of been around 195-200 that tells me my OBD2 engine started with 10 more bhp.

if you can find one dan the bora was a lot cheaper than the golf v6 but very hard to find i got mine for 3700. i recon the bora has a air of exclusivity over the golf imo i always try to lord it over the golf boys at every opertunity i get, you keeping in the vw stable for your nxt car vr6 dan??

A friend of mine was lookin at buying a Bora, he reckoned you get more toys in the Bora than you do in the Golf and the prices are slighlty less! £3700 is a very fair price for a German 200bhp 4wd car. Any plans on modding it? How old is it?

I'm buying a frends VR6 supercharged Syncro, decided i needed a more econmoical car than the VR lol. Still fancy that race?

Dan why not just supercharge your vr6

any syncro is going to be left hand drive?

or buy 4- motion and get that supercharged

dont get me wrong i love my vr6 black highline

but its 1996 so 11 years old

it will always keep up with most hot hatches on a straight

but around a bend fingers crossed

just my thoughts

Totally appreciate what ur saying but if you were to see it you'd probably understand why. My mate has done all the hard work he's spent literally thousands doing it, its a show car through and through not just a supercharger bolted on, yes it LHD but the price im getting it for is worth every penny.

I've just sold my VR i got £3600 and to have bought a supercharger with all the extra costs involved it would have been more than buying this Syncro which has the stage 3 kit on, has just had a full re-spray in mulberry, all the bumpers are flushed, tail gate flushed, porche rims sliverline x coilies and mulberry leather upholsted front recaro seats to name a few mods and i wanted to do all this to mine, that would of cost me thousands.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to cars and this syncro ticks all my boxes bar the LHD!

F**K it you only live once!

Mid-high 13's it did get a low 13 but that was running 50 bhp shots of nos on top. Its just over 300 bhp. Plus you got four wheels gripping at take off so that improves 1/4 mile times. My aim is to get into the 12's with it even if it's 12.9 that'll do me lol!

looks even better in the pics

nice dials with blue lights

bling bling steering wheel

paintwork looks mint

and the engine whats that v9 superchager

like the rear lights whats the front INPROS

your friend must have spent a small fortune on it

i even like the exhaust its std i think with the twin small original back box

the only thing its left hooker but then all syncros r!

so well done dan what sort of cash did u pay if i can be so bold to ask
