I rang vw for a time on the job and they said 27 hours labour, think they do it with engine out. There labour rate was around 100 pound per hour also n then parts on top. I did mine myself in 19 hohrs without taking engine out, using genuine parts and changing my flywheel and clutch i spent arout 600 pound just on parts and my friend got my discount on parts as he works at audi. VR6Pete 1,455 Posted August 30, 2015 Report Share Posted August 30, 2015 100/hour? Wow that's a lot. It is a big job as you have to remove gearbox. It can be done with engine still in the car but much easier when it's out. We have a guide in our club members guides for replacing timing chains, but as others have said theres a few other jobs that's worth considering whilst doing this too Link to post Share on other sites
