Newbie question....power

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I test drove a Corrado VR6 today and it felt low on power. I checked all the hoses before and after the drive. The engine seemed to rev freely, but it didn't seem to transfer that power to the wheels. It was only after it had warmed up a bit that it seemed to respond but it still felt like it was holding back. I used to have a GTV V6, and currently drive a 2.0 Forester XT and that seemed much quicker.

Does this sound right or is something amiss?

Is the Forester the Turbo?  The same running gear as the Imprezza as they are quick lol quicker than a standard VR.  But as Pete says Ross Tech is your friend on this one!  I will say this My car sat for 18 months in my work shop!  I got her out for a little paint and MOT.  The painter took it first and was so disappointed, being a VW nut himself he felt pretty let down.  I had it MOT'd, then I serviced her with new plugs and leads.  Back to paint it went the following week and he was blown away with the difference.  These vehicles really respond well to a good service with quality oil...

Whats the deal with the Corrado you drove?

The seller will get back to me. I am handy with a few tools but not a mechanic by any means, so if it's a service I can change plugs, leads and filters. Anything else is down to the mechanic.

There were a few other bits that required attention, exhaust, door locks, brakes, sunroof, etc. there's someone else going to look at it today, so he may be less put off than me.

But I'll keep looking!
