scholsey 11
Welcome to my build thread bought my vr6 from Liam Hooper in coventry,At the time it was hard to find a 3 door dragon green vr obd2 haha, was in abit of a state.... 150k calibre vintage 17"fk street coiloversr32 shallow sump and pickupmilltek full decatremote hatch smoothedsmooth front bumperclifford full closure alarmanni indicatorsm3 rear lights mk4 front lightsrecaro front cloth, corrado steering wheel, suede roof liningwierd induction kitwork in progress pictures to follow jet engine on the intake! least it had these going for it as i got it to mine So the things that i found Aux belt and tensioner making a supercharger noiseFront coilovers siezed and front drivers had serious camber!Rear coilovers leaking,Front anti roll bar missingsteering rack on its last legssteering pump ran dry due to faulty steering rack ^starter motor stickingAlternator not chargingHalfrauds battery was terriblerad Fans not workingFunny smell on the inside (should have noticed the 20 air freshners the guy had in it) First thing strip the interior out and give it a wash and clean Good thing it was a hot day because i went all out and gave the carpets a full hose down About this time i found out it used to be a pretty sorted golf in Glen Harris's hands and also George Russell (they didnt like what happened to it haha) I had some l.e.d rsr replicas from my old tdi so got them on as the m3 style are my pet hate. At the time i liked it, i see it was a mistake now lol i also spend 10 minutes treating the rust on the badly smoothed boot ! It was then onto the calibre vintage bbs replica's. Two had been badly sanded down with i would hate to think maybe 40 grit hah I stripped both of them of the fake studs and the laquer ready for plasti dip (at the time it was a new product so wanted to try! Literally 20 minutes and 2 cans of anthricite metallic and i had this result This is where i didnt even think but the two i did was different side treads where as the front could have been both. heres a picture from All types 2014 vw show at boddlewydden castle in wales. My mate kept on messing with me that its rwd drift jap ? lol ok it was badAlso fitted the fogs off my old tdi as the vr had the loom but not fitted haha Still had the turbine intake! Gave the engine a first valet after fitting the corrado vr6 engine cover and removing all the blue halfrauds coolant and putting lovely pink stuff in Colour coded smooth rear bumper fitted for £40 cant complain as the standard one it had was cracked and falling off! The old silicone hoses on the intake connected to the bonrath pipe were looking bad so while working for a online motorsport sales company i made use of the stock (for a reduced price :-)) Fitted the dash panels from the tdi real fake carbon wrap!!also replaced the dodgey sony speakers and sterio for the tdi stuff The inteior headliner needed something to break it up so i replaced the badly sprayed grab handles and broken black visors for white / cream from the tdi so make a two tone suede thing This is a picture happy thread as i am just using my album as the story i hope your still awake lol Heres my two sitting outside the tdi is the blue one that i still miss 2 years later it was a blast (floor dissapeared - t4 cov then scrapped)white one is my mums 1.6 its a dub family So as the weather was looking good i decided it was time to joey mod my mk4 replica headlights as i always liked the look. This is the truth: i had the car for 3 weeks and didnt realize they were mk4 lights till my mate pointed it out. The glass was normal twin chamber as you can see haha oh dear lights fitted also bought vr6 front badge from ebay due to a friend asking me is it a gti I finally got new tyres and so put the original silver one side and gray the other winning After saving up i finally got the money for a power steering pump - before i knew the rack was mullered After a few months off the wrapping i had to do it! genuine fake sticker bomb wrap! was 12pm at the time i finished! yay So on the outside i didnt like the look of the plastic side strips so through a make i found some blue smooth strips and got on to painting them! halfrauds paint did the job I had a serious problem of misfiring just all of a sudden so i had a look at the usual spark plugs leads coilpack, i went for the option of new magnecore coil leads reccomended by a few vr owners 8mm so still fit in guides! fitted them and it sorted it out woop update on the interior i found a 280mm momo team wheel for £50 picked up on the way to work and wrapped after! Now MOT time.... finally saved up for the steering rack. coilovers and eibach lower arbs fitted myself saved serious moneyalso found it was polly bushed on the front wishbone which was nice... better than what was on it! had a go at diy outside painting and it turned out ok on the boot! found someone who would swap my calibre vintage for d90 porsche wheels and h&r stud adaptors ! While fitting new rocker gasket i had a good look around.. would look better with 268 schrick cams but meh heres where it was at, lowered and smooth big winter gap.after winter i got a vento front forgive the corrado speedlines Then spent money on new toyo tyres and one of the winter projects was polishing the porkas and got all black hella rear lights for it Few last pictures before i hit the limit. lowered it again out of winter mode and found a phase one grill from ireland and votex ducts for the front end fitted cool plasma dials and heater both green glow from moman.pl on show at vw nw with the club 3 days before vw action i decided to take the front off and change the wings i found in telford colour coded and smoothed ! At vw action i found something i have been wanting for ages (all comes to those who waits) at the auto jumble!Eibach front strutbrace!!! had to make a bracket for the coolant bottle as the brace wouldnt fit with the bottle in the correct place. The metal i used was from my old wings so already painted green haha Here's where it is now and more to come 164k miles used daily for 1.5 years and still going strong cheers guys B) Edited September 9, 2015 by scholsey VR6Pete, JakeP, daveyboy and 4 others
