dom.joy 87
Looking at getting a kit I've seen for sale. It only needs the sump tapping for an oil feed and software. I have a couple of questions,Can you buy a chip that can just be installed?Do you still run a MAF? Cheers VR6Pete
VR6Pete 1,455
Hi mate. I have a V1 that I'm currently installing. Few things, make sure you weld the AN fitting into the sump instead of tapping, you'll have leaks otherwise and peace of mind. Make sure it's 100% complete. I thought mine was complete. It was not and have had to have a few bits fabricated up. If you have photos I can tell you if anything is missing. I'd recommend you get it mapped not sure on the software if you can get it off the shelf anymore. MAF. Yes you should run the it at least 18" away from the intake on the charger to avoid stalling issues...Usually would fit behind the bumper / wing where charcoal canister would have been. dom.joy 87
Hi Pete. I'll try to get some pics up
VR6Pete 1,455
Good man. Keep an eye on my build thread. I'm posting up my progress / updates
dom.joy 87
These are the photos from the add. Im not too worried about it I have to get a few bits made as I have mates that can machine bits and I have access to CAD software.Who is mapping yours? VR6Pete 1,455
Cool. You'll just need idler, spacers and longer alternator bolts. Mine came with a 2.75" pulley, 380cc and a mapped ECU but will take it stealth get mapped eventually.
dom.joy 87
The guy has said it's ready to bolt on so there might be more, I will ask If not I will have to get one made up VR6Pete
dom.joy 87
Might be a silly question but why do you need the idler?
VR6Pete 1,455
It adds tension to the belt otherwise you will get belt slip. Here's a quick drawing of how it would look on the tensioner.
dom.joy 87
Ah okay. I'll try to find out. May have to ask if you can measure yours up or draw rounder it for me haha. Cheers VR6Pete

CheersSure mate. No problem at all. I don't think the shape is that important. It's the bolt holes and width / offset of pulleys in relation to the charger position dom.joy
dom.joy 87
Ah okay cheers.Do you have to remove the stock tensioner then?
dom.joy 87
I have been told that the belt is sized correct to be tensioned by the mounting 'block' of the charger. Going to go and have a look/buy on Saturday I think

dom.joy 87
Are kits OBD specific?
VR6Pete 1,455
No. Only the map would be specific to obd1 / obd2... Only other difference is if you have air/com or not.
dom.joy 87
Awesome. Guy has already said its for non-air con and I have removed mine. VR6Pete
dom.joy 87
It doesnt look like the intakes on this kit have outlets for catch can etc. Are these easy enough to install?
reynolds9000 26
a catch can is about as simple as you can imagine. all that is needed is a catch can of your choosing and a rubber hose to attach the catch can to the PCV port on the valve cover. you can improvise a soda can or you can buy a fully fabricated dedicated catch can with venting, etc. another option is to simply put a breather filter on the PCV port itself. makes for some heavy fumes at idle however. To keep it fully closed loop doesnt the other outlet from the catch can have to go to the intake pipe? The intake pipe I am getting doesnt have outlets for this.
reynolds9000 26
if you want or need it to be a closed loop system then you'll need to have a port welded to the intake pipe.the purpose of the catch can is to eliminate the PCV system so it would counterintuitive to install the catch can but have the vapors recirculated to the intake. personally I would just leave the intake pipe as-is and install a catch can that does not recirculate the vapors Edited September 17, 2015 by reynolds9000 dom.joy and D11PS
dom.joy 87
Can you use a 6rib belt on 7rib pulleys if it is correctly spaced and running straight?
c00k 435
Yes you can run a 6 rib belt, But it may belt walk, where the belt moves side to side, over the spare left over rib, Wearing and stretching the belt slightly quicker. But it will work, not ideal, but good enough to get you up and running until you find a 7 rib. Edited October 3, 2015 by c00k
dom.joy 87
Thanks mate. Plan will be find a 7 rib stage 1 or 2 and then upgrade. Will do my best to line everything up spot on
dom.joy 87
Bump, Anyone know the length of the oil feed pipe. Will a metre of hose be enough or worth getting 2 metres to be safe?
