al_mooring 102
Hi everyone,Some of you will know my mk2 awd vr6 turbo build I had going on..... Well after a change of heart, a rethink of what I actually wanted and whilst scouring the Internet for a new daily I ended up looking in the mk3 section on edition and found a couple mk3 vr's that tickled my fancy. For those who know me I have always been a mk3 guy after owning two other gti's so when I saw Scott's supercharged vr for sale I made the journey south to Hastings to buy it.After a 5 hour train journey and a good chat with Scott I bought the car and made the 5 hour journey home (m25 and m11 are a nightmare) haha So I guess some of you will be asking why have I ditched the mk2??Well to be honest the amount just for the respray alone bought the mk3. I have since sold the mk2 to my friend Tom along with the supercharged lump from the mk3, this is to make room for my 6 speed turbo setup which I am leaving 2wd this time.I have since sold the interior out the mk3 to make way for a roll cage to be welded in and then an all black leather interior with recaro pole positions, renown wheel and cae shifter.Engine wise it will be the one that was going in the mk2 so a fully forged 2.8 vr6 with a big valve head, calico bearings, arp hardware throughout, 268 cams, schimmel oil filter housing, oil cooler and fluidampr. Turbo will be a holset hx52 bolted to a sidewinder manifold sat over the gearbox with a front mount.Fuelling is the standard tank and lift pump connected to an IE surge tank with two 044's upto the rail with 830cc injectors and an aeromotive FPR, braided lines throughout. This will be mated to a fx725 clutch and 02m DRP box with diesel gearing, wavetrac diff and 2wd conversion plate. All this will be sat in a smoothed bay with a wire tuck, ABS delete, manual steering, battery and washer fluid in the boot.Outside will remain the same apart fromThe rs' are having a redrill and refurb so I can widen them. Then the air install will be done again by my friend Matt at OCD.So that's the plan, currently already stripped out the interior which I say is sold now, just need to get the charged lump out and turbo lump in ready to send to SS autowerks for a roll cage to be fitted and exhaust mani fabricated.I'll let the pictures do the talking So the few things I have acquired as of late are some carbon goodies that are been made or have arrived for the interior and engine bay like sunroof motor blank, wing mirror inside covers, rear view mirror and valve cover with more to come So yeh hopefully you like what you see and I'll keep updating this as soon as I get more work done which will be ripping out the charged vr later this week! al_mooring 102
Well after much thought my original plans or using the rs' have changed and they are up for sale.Ordered some new wheels today so they have to go!
c00k 435
If that's a mk2 subframe, with mk2 lower arms. It's effectively a narrow track mk3. So would require different offset wheels to a mk3 VR subframe and lower arms. If your going for the stance I think your looking for. Just something to keep in mind dude. al_mooring 102
Lovely example fella, any more progress? Not a great deal but I have been getting the new subframe and suspension etc bolted up ready to mount the engine and gearbox. The engine is built up and the gearbox is nearing completion ready to take it to SS autowerks for a cage, turbo mani, intercooler pipework and coolant pipes fabbing up.My camera has broken on my phone but will try and get more updates soon. Also placed an order with a friend for lots of parts to be wrapped in carbon so will get pics of those as and when also D11PS

al_mooring 102
So not a great deal to report at the moment but managed to get the engine bay properly emptied and swapped the tyres from the RS' onto some steels to get the car back on all four wheels. And also had my steering UJ lengthened as apparently this one was suppose to be a manual one..... Obviously not! Slowly piecing together an old battered interior to put in the car whilst the cage is been fabbed up and sent more bits off to be carbon'd haha ky_uk, D11PS, michael5556 and 1 other
al_mooring 102
So today I got my hockey puck mounts started.Contact cemented three and half pucks for the front and rear engine mounts and then will use a further two for underneath and three all round to raise the engine
daveyboy 897
I don't think you'll get your bonnet closed mate. I've only got 1 in my front mount and that lifts the sump just inside the subframe and it's pretty close to the bonnet

I've only got 1 in my front mount and that lifts the sump just inside the subframe and it's pretty close to the bonnetCheers for the info! I have never done it before but was wanting to raise all three to keep everything even. Does The engine etc sit evenly with only the front raised? To be honest I don't really have to raise the engine as I am on airride but it was for more of a safe guard incase I forget to air up etc or a big bump comes out of nowhere haha Got the car back on all four wheel and fitted the front crossmember and engine mounts but didn't get chance to get a picture.Came back home to find this though which I am over the moon about:

al_mooring 102
Nice shifter. I just put the one in the front mount and I haven't had a problemCheers for the info I will do the same and see how it goes.Car is currently at SSautowerks having the roll cage, turbo manifold, intercooler pipework and coolant pipework fabricated. They will also be making bases for the recaro's and lengthening my track rods as the manual setup is still too short for some reason even though I have all the correct parts. daveyboy, c00k and ky_uk

al_mooring 102
Well not a great deal happening as the car is away having work done but a few more goodies have arrived this past few days. Couldn't be happier with the wheels and the chrome finish is perfect. Still deciding tyre sizes but just glad they are here as customs decided to break into one and deliver it a day later as can be seen by the tape on the top box! c00k, Bealieboy and michael5556
