MattM 17
My car has had this problem where it is shifting in a very odd manor and I took it to the VW dealership here in my town and they said that they would have to replace the TCM ($1300/€1148.51) which is just ridiculous. I had talked to other car friends and it seems it would be cheaper to swap out the current auto tranny for a manual. I would do this mostly because I feel that replacing the TCM won't fix the transmission problems as the auto VR6 models are known for going bad a lot sooner than the manual options. Any suggestions from you guys as to what I should do? Should I just replace the TCM and then get the Auto fixed or completely swap out the auto for a manual. It would be around $200/€176.69 cheaper to swap them out. Hopefully I can get some help on making my decision!

CALICO 130
As soon as mine started to become a little erratic I had the gearbox serviced by a garage, this cured the problem and it was fine when I sold it 30.000 miles later mine was the later sealed gearbox otherwise I would have done it myself.
