Worth breaking?

Recommended Posts

Right guys, in a bit of a predicament here.

I have touched the car in months and it's in 100's of bits and I can find the time/money/enthusiasm to get it back together. It's cost me a fortune to store a months and I can't see an end in sight

Is there any money in breaking it? The end is probably high miles with leaky stem seams. Body work isn't great, fairly rust free with a dent in the front sill that needs a weld. There are a few things I could sell like brakes, coil overs, interior etc but is there much money in it?

What are my options for getting rid of it?

Guessing someone on here has went through the same recently. Help a brother out.

Much appreciated

How deconstructed is it cooz?

How much needs spending to put it right?

How much have you got invested in it

What's it worth when back together?

Think about it, if it's a grand of motor running and in one piece, it's probs worth that parted out.

Cheers for the reply

The engine/gearbox is still in but other than that, that's about it.

I know it needs a top end rebuild due to the leaky stem seals.. So thats going to cost a few quid, even if I was to do it myself.

It's mainly little bits here and there that all add up, but I'm guessing minimum 600-800 to get it back on the road, and even then I recon it would only be worth around £1500 due to the shoddy paint job by last owner. It's a hard one. If rent wasn't so expensive I would keep it.

If I was to strip it, would the engine and box be worth anything? How far should I take it down before sending it to scrapping?

Engine, box and loom are worth £300-400 at a guess, subframes front and rear you might make £150, exhaust, interior (leather?) including sunroof. suspension and wheels. Panels too, if not rusty.

Might be as well to break and cut your losses?
