matty.vrt 120
Made mini looms for injectors and COP's Made using Raychem tefzel wire and DR25 heat shrink. Not the best job ever but it was a learning curve anyways. As long as it works for now I can always spend time later tidying bits up I'm not happy with. VR6Pete
matty.vrt 120
Fitted new steering wheel today the old one has done 115,000 miles and is looking rather tired. Removed air bag. What a nightmare to get out, in the end I had to resort to google. OMP 350mm suede WRC with mid dish. Initial reports are feels strange being slightly smaller than standard but the suede is much nicer to touch than the worn polished leather. bennyk
matty.vrt 120
Picked up my gearbox from powdercoat today. Not entirely happy with the finish but looks a lot better than it did before. Undecided if I should send it back or leave it as it is.
matty.vrt 120
Just got some pictures of my fuel swirl pot that will be used to feed my belt driven Aeromotive pump. It will be fitted in the hole that used to be occupied by the standard fan intake. P-motorsports alloy fabrication is second to none, just look at those welds Edited July 4, 2016 by matty.vrt VR6CABBS, c00k and RBPE

matty.vrt 120
Thanks VR6CABBS I needed to mount it in a good location so gravity would push the fuel down to the belt pump to avoid cavitation. VR6CABBS
matty.vrt 120
Started the big swap yesterday. Firstly I jacked the car up and dropped the oil.Drained the radiator and pulled the front end off. I was not sure the best way to remove the driveshafts but a quick look from underneath revealed that from above would be much easier, so off with the manifolds it was.I then decided to remove all the wires I don't need simply leaving the horns, headlight, reverse sensor and starter wire as I have made a full custom loom for the engine.Next I jacked the back of the car up to remove the full exhaust system. After a couple of hours the engine was finally out. Then I looked to tidy the bay a little. This will be no show car and is being built to be raced so don't expect any fancy tricks. The abs has not worked for a long time and with a lot of track time planned I decided it had to go both for functionality and as it seems heavy a little weight saving too.More updates coming soon as things progress. matty.vrt 120
Clutch came today so I can now mate the engine and gearbox together, happy days Went for Don Octane's flywheel and Sachs RCS200 twin plate clutch good for 1200nm.The flywheel is super light I think the whole assembly weighs less than the standard clutch pressure and friction plate. matty.vrt 120
Had another play today. Managed to get a 14mm banjo for the high pressure side of the power steering rack.Bent/ swaged the pipe and sent it into the cabin where my electric PAS pump will be.Found a nice home for my Aeromotive belt drive pump fuel pressure regulator.Fitted two new o rings on the standard plastic water pipe and a new seal on the thermostat housing. I did look at the metal upgrades you can buy but I decided having had VR6 engined cars for the last 9 or so years and never one pipe has failed they are really more about looks than anything else. Then I mounted the front slam panel just to feel like I had done a little more . matty.vrt 120
Managed to get an 11" Spal pull fan mounted to my radiator today using the supplied 'quick connect kit' Apologies for my terrible fabrication skills, made a bracket today to mount my 19 row oil cooler to my 52mm twin pass polo radiator. This is how it will sit. Just need to make some mounting brackets for the entire assembly. On the plus side the new rad, fan & oil cooler weighs at least 50% lighter than the old rad, fan & air con radiator. matty.vrt 120
After spending ages trying to work out where I should mount the race battery I have finally found a neat location. I knew I wanted to mount it in the cabin to make more room in the engine bay and for weight distribution it had to be on the passenger side.Rear quarter panel it is then.
