96VR6NZ 2
I have a 96 VR6 OBD2 with automatic transmission. It goes well, I enjoy the auto trans but I wonder if there is anyway to improve its performance? Can the ECU be modified?
Guest 0superdamo0
There is a way via vagcom. You can set it into 3 modes eco/normal/sport. I set my t4 VR6 into eco as at best I get 18mpg!
96VR6NZ 2
I know that you can enter sport mode by pushing the pedal past the full throttle point. It causes a kick down and gear change at the redline. However it seems to go back to normal after a while. I wonder if there is a way to keep it in sport mode, switch it on and off. jdcorr 5
I'm not sure about those different modes on the 01M transmission... It has kickdown but that's not really Sport mode. You can do the Kerma mod (google it) that increases line pressure for more positive shifts, that comes at a cost though. I installed the Transgo shift kit on mine which vastly improved gear changes. The 01M will never be a very sporty transmission though... Here's my series on overhauling the 01M transmission: thesurgeon

Username3001 0
Keep your shift selector in fourth and it maintain sport mode or smash the go pedal to the floor as fast as you can and it reverts back to sport mode.I don't like it.But, it works.
