VR6Pete 1,455
Damn I know the feeling of the gurgle on the turn of the key. Ever since I fitted Samco's on mine. Sounds like the waves hitting the rocks in a fookin sea storm. Any way looks like a nice one pal. Remove the valve from the old hoses and insert into Samco
Marneus 78
I got the new (to me) scuttle & new pollen filter in but the wind stole one of my wiper nut covers Also changed the air filter while I was there...The dog got bored watching me again

Marneus 78
Rusty bottom bolts stopped play the other day, so just waiting on new bolts so I can get the old ones cut off & fit the coilovers/powerflex top mounts.
Marneus 78
Got the RSX's fitted. Currently on the lowest setting & I really like the way it sits now. Will look better when I get the S3's refurbished & fitted but that will be next year now. vr6*kid
Marneus 78
Got the black cloth seats, black door cards/switches & black centre console/hand brake fitted. Much happier with it now, prefer it greatly to the beige leather & plastics. This will be about all I do till after xmas as every thing that needs doing now will require a bit of saving. On the to do list isRefurbish the S3's & put some decent tyres on.See what welding needs doing to the sills.Get another sunroof, headliner & rear window mechs. Fit carpet & rest of black plastics. Probably end up buying a breaker for all the bits as it will be easier & probably cheaper.
Marneus 78
So, yesterday I bought a 3dr, non sunroof GTi. The shell is in very good condition but the engine was knackered. The plan now is to sort the shell then swap the engine & box over from my 5dr. You can see from the pictures that it's been proper chaved up but with less than 100,000 on the clock it really deserved rescuing & it will cost less to swap the motor on this than do the bodywork on the 5dr. Yesterday was a productive day though. All in all it's a really clean shell with just a small bit of patching up to do. bennyk
Marneus 78
Got all the stuff off it to sell, just waiting for my mate to get some spare time to do the bit of welding then can bring the shell home to clean & finalise my plans.
Marneus 78
Unfortunately the Golfs have had to go, I realised I needed something bigger with baby number 2 on the way. The 3 dr has gone & I'm breaking the VR6. I've replaced them with a little BMW Happy motoring everyone

Marneus 78
This time I don't think so Pete. If I'd have know I could get classic insurance on the E38 I would never have got the VR6 last year..... This cost the same to insure, MPG is about the same & I don't need to modify it as it has everything as it is. So this would have been cheaper VR6Pete

Marneus 78
Luckily I don't need to daily it & it's about the same on Fuel as the VR6, just a bigger tank.I was getting about 200-250miles per tank from the Golf & it's about 4-500 per tank in this (80l) stop start town driving is what would kill the fuel. I did 10miles this morning taking my daughter to nursery & it was clocking 16mpg when I got home. This is a lovely place to sit though
Marneus 78
This is for dalep The coilovers are as low as they'll go with the helper springs still in, they could be removed if you wanted to go silly low, as you can see in the picture below.
