Has anyone noticed a negative change in performance since fitting an induction kit? With the standard air filter I always enjoyed the torquey burst at about 3000rpm. Since fitting a Pipercross unit (which by the way only came with one jubilee clip when I needed two - bastards) this 'burst' has dissappered. Maybe its just me !shy

Thing is when fitting many after-market filters is that it tends to suck in all the hot air in the engine bay, thus reducing performance...

Back to basics now, the more dense the air is the better performane you will get.

The BMC CDA's are designed to do just that. They help reduce the temperature and the design also helps.

and last of all, they sound great!

Pete's right, I'd say its more the hot air being the problem.

I fitted the bmc and noticed a definate improvement directly after fitting, backed up by the improved RR figures.

When I first fitted it I didn't fit a jubilee clip to hold the cold air feed onto the end of the filter canister and it soon slipped off, not only did the sound it produced change, but also the performance faltered, not alot granted because the air was still being forced up the cold air feed to the filter, but hotter air was being sucked in because there was a gap.

The best thing you can do is produce/procure a pipe which moves the air filter down to the bottom of the engine bay thus putting it closer to the cold air and moving it away from the hotter engine area.

Yep, i bought my BMC at christmas time from the Group buy back then, its brilliant and it just sounds awesome when you put your foot down at 2-3k, its a snarling animal, i wish the engine was less refined so other people could hear it.

Hot air will definately screw things up, especially with the sort of heat the VR6 generates. I had a Ramair and although the sound was good the engine felt stifled. I never regretted changing back to the standard airbox.

after i installed my bmc i felt that it lacked a little power but not much....but didnt fit the air pipe....now i have fitted it and the car drives alot better giving it a better sound too

thats the whole idea of the bmc kit to start with as its a "ram air" type of kit. by that i mean it needs cold air rammed up it to become effective over a non-enclosed kit otherwise it will still be drawing in warm air from the engine despite the casing, and of course, being enclosed, then retains some of the warmth in its internal chamber! the bmc works particularly well at speed with a cold air pipe from the front bumper supplying the denser air!
