Goodge123 5 Posted November 5, 2016 Report Share Posted November 5, 2016 Started to strip the engine down ready to rebuild . Took the head off and found lots off corrosion caused by coolant . I was taking the head off to give it a skim before putting a new head gasket on. Any opinions if this head is ready for the skip or will it still live Link to post Share on other sites

VR6Pete 1,455 Posted November 8, 2016 Report Share Posted November 8, 2016 Wow, yes looks like 90% of VR6 heads you see today! a little corrosion is normal for these old girls..... I have seen similar repairs with JB weld or equivalent to fill in the void - after all the head gasket will compress it back again. get whole headed dipped and cleaned, repair corrosion, and get skimmed should be job done, alternatively look on our classifieds for other second hand heads in better condition but I can tell you most heads will be like that this day and age rich 1 Link to post Share on other sites
