Mk3dakotavr6 0
Hello everybody, I'll be a club member shortly. I bought my first vr6 car around a month ago. After driving about 1100 miles my car has started a crank no start issue. I've replaced the crank sensor, ignition switch, and the coil pack. All with oem parts. But it hasn't fixed the problem. I figured if there's one place to find the fix, this forum would be the best place. I look forward to learning more about the gorgeous engine. Any and all advice will be really appreciated. Thanks in advance guys. Link to where I bought the car. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?8263033-FS-97-GTI-Vr6-Graphite-gray-105k-5K
Gareth79 0
I feel your pain. Having the same issues as yourself but on a 95 Vr Corrado. I've also replaced the same parts and no life in the old girl. Ive had it trailered to E-Tech, who I hope will be able to resolve the issues but so far, no luck. The vag com read a fault on the crank sensor which was swapped out again and still no joy. I'll be sure to post the outcome, if it starts.
Mk3dakotavr6 0
I don't think a bad o2 sensor will cause this problem but is it possible that no signal at all from the o2 sensor to the ecu will cause a no start issue?
noggin 29
I had a similar problem last week and we changed the crank sensor and it hasn't failed to start since. However it was suggested that the same problem could be caused by a coolant temp sensor.

Mk3dakotavr6 0
I did some more diagnosing today and found out I do have spark. I'm pretty positive the fuel pump took a shit. There's fuel going going to the rail but I can't hear or feel the pump kicking on. I tested the fuel pump pigtail and its got 12v while cranking. Maybe the pumps too weak or not working to pressurize the fuel. I'm putting it to rest until I get back in late April since I don't have any money.
