vr6 bez 3
Hi all I'm having a prob with the mrs v6 4 mo intermittent starting I have plugged in my vag com and it's coming up with a control module prob. I have looked into the po605 code and ppl are saying about a 3" pipe in the ecm ( ecu ) does this sound familiar to anyone and is it an easy fix?
Timothy_Ellis 23
Check the fuse for it. Clear the code.
Timothy_Ellis 23
If it still does it, in the cowl panel there are a few grounds. Check all of them are ok and clean.
Timothy_Ellis 23
If it still does it, could be bad ecu or could be power loss by short, I’d check all your loom out of the waterfall and underneath your battery tray, look for any exposed or cracked wires. I’d check every thing I could and make sure all of your wires and stuff are good before spending cash on a new ecu.
vr6 bez 3
Would this stop the fuel pump from priming? As I have noticed when the pump doesn't prime it won't start so if you keep trying and eventually you hear the pump prime it will start. I have also read if the door module is faulty this can stop it starting. Is this true? Thanks
Timothy_Ellis 23
Uh as far as I know, (yes opening the door primes the pump) the door won’t keep it from running. But losing the brain of the operation surely will keep your pump from kicking on.
Timothy_Ellis 23
Not 100 on that as I’ve never had a door module go bad.
vr6 bez 3
It's doing my nut in lol she will start it up fine then go to the shop and when she comes out it won't start ? I'm more swayed to the door module due the the priming issue and it's prob the cheapest fix for now lol thanks for your info will also try looking into them ??
Timothy_Ellis 23
Does it ever kick off while driving?
vr6 bez 3
No it runs sweet as a nut once it's running no missfires or power loss it's just hit or miss weather it will start again once turned off. I have ordered a door module and will let you know if it cures it
Timothy_Ellis 23
I’m saying the circuit for the ignition goes from switch to fuel pump to starter solenoid. Not the door.
vr6 bez 3
ah I know what your saying bud. It's just with the fuel pump priming off the drivers door that is what was making me go in this direction. It needs a new door module anyway as the interior lights and puddle light don't work with the door open. It's got to be worth a shot. I'm not 100% this will fix it but it's another thing that does need fixing. It is giving me a PO605 code on the vag com
Timothy_Ellis 23
That’s fair.
Timothy_Ellis 23
Curious to know if it works for you.
vr6 bez 3
Will let you know bud just fingers crossed it works ?? Timothy_Ellis
vr6 bez 3
Bought a new door mec that has sorted the puddle light and interior light but didn't do anything with the starting issues. Tried to change the fuel pump relay no: 409 and that hasn't worked so it's looking like an ecu fault ? Edited August 10, 2017 by vr6 bez
blackwookie 26
Swap ur fuel pump. I was having issues with mine not priming. Id smack it and it would prime and fire right up. Swapped the pump for a used one i got for cheap and no isses since
vr6 bez 3
It turned out to be the ecu. I had to buy a second hand one from Germany for £100 then pay £100 to get it coded to the car. Seams to be spot on now ?? Timothy_Ellis and blackwookie
