vwooks 0
Hi all, clutching at string here but here goes. I'm putting a 24v VR6 into my MK2 Golf. I just need the final piece of the jigsaw. I am desperately trying to find a chain tensioner/slider with the part number "022109513a" its no longer available from VW and so far I have not found another supplier. I have managed to get a 3D printed version of this part but I am not confident the plastic is up to the job. I have also been in contact with VW classic parts in Germany, they have the part on order but couldn't tell me when it would be available. So does anyone have one knocking about or know where I could get one? It's no.14 on the parts diagram. Edited December 2, 2017 by vwooks
mattvr6 133
I’d imagine an r32 would be the same that’s the oil pump guide yea?
vwooks 0
It's for the timing chain, the R32 item is a completely different shape unfortunately It appears to be completely unique to the 24v engines with AUE and AQP engine codes.
Flylow 2
Try eBay. The R32 is basically the same engine as a vr6 2.8 24v vvt. The only difference is the bore and stroke as well as some head work.
vwooks 0
The 2.8 24v with engine code "BDE" has a similar timing chain setup to the R32. The 2.8 24v with AQP and AUE engine codes work on a completely different setup to the R32. My engine is an AUE. Edited December 7, 2017 by vwooks
Flylow 2
Oh ok. That's the non but then?
Flylow 2
I mean non vvt
mattvr6 133
They just have variable inlet the early ones
vwooks 0
Yup and the later ones have vvt on inlet and exhaust. iirc it was changed due to emissions as all engine codes make the same power.
mattvr6 133
I’ve got a bde one runs a lot smoother than earlier ones imo
vwooks 0
Yeah, I wish I'd held out for a BDE but this AUE came up super cheap ?
vwooks 0
Got sorted now, managed to find a guy in Germany that has started making them. He's on Vr6forum.eu If anyone else is struggling I'll happily pass on his details. New one milled one on the left, 3d printed crap one in the middle and original on the right. dox 3
Did ford use these engines in the Galaxy? Worth trying the Ford dealers?
thb02 0
Wasn't it only the 12v they had in the galaxy? I'm going searching...
dox 3
I can only find AYL engine code for the Galaxy on ebay, the side shot on this listing shows 2 VVT solenoids so VVT on both cams http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AYL-V6-2-8-Motor-204PS-VW-Sharan-SEAT-Alhambra-FORD-89Tkm-MIT-GEWAHRLEISTUNG/181944855944?hash=item2a5cc22d88:g:vdUAAOSwHQ9WWYKi
thb02 0
I also came to a dead end with it. I've ordered a block of p66 nylon which is what it's made from and I'm gonna make my own at home. Block was £5 off ebay.
Kevlyn7 0
I've paid 285 for the whole timing chain kit then gunna sell the chains and other slide rails that come in the pack. If you know someone who does 3D printing might be worth a shout, then get a few made and sell em to all the desperate fellow golf owners
thb02 0
Where did you order the kit from? All the kits I saw, even the ones in Germany that were for our engine, showed the part in the photo but then in the small print say that the slider isn't included.
vwooks 0
Yup, I found the same.

Kevlyn7 0
Yup, I found the same. How much did you pay for yours? I can't find the guy you told me to message
thb02 0
I found the guy but I've been waiting days for a forum auth so I can message him. I can imagine its not far off the same price.
