patrick green 0
Go on, give it a go! there's not really much to do with induction kits - most are simply a 'bolt-on' affair (CDA kits are a little more complicated) - what induction system are you planning to fit? Guest couzens
There's a guide on here for the BMC induction kit. That's probably the best to fit according to peeps here.

patrick green 0
Paula I've got a Ram Air fitted to mine & it wasn't hard to put on - once you've managed to get the OE airbox out of the way, it's just the size of the filter that can be tricky & the point I had trouble with was the bracket that holds the filter housing. It fixes to the suspension strut housing but there isn't a decent nut to hold it so I used a cable tie - it does the job!

Grrrrrr[/quote']If your coming to No-Rice I'm sure a couple of us could help you fit the Ram-Air! I have one on mine great noise and very easy to fit. Brackets not the best but easily modified with a welder, and then it attaches to a handy thread attached to the inner wheel arch.
VRmonster 1
so i gues you take your welder to all the meets then six? only kiddin. i cant actualy beleive ppl have voted "stay well away" lol. induction kits are probs the easiest mod unless your fitting some crazy piping that puts the filter through the sunroof lol. give it a go paula, youll be fine. and if u get stuck, jus thow a pair of tights over the hole. o/j. lol

Guest LucyLu
i dont wanna start a this is better than the other but as for the induction kit i have to ask why? i fitted one recently and it was the biggest load of pants ever,it sounded nice but lost power and torque and made me wee car slower. whats everyones opinions? mightyvr6 0
Agreed. If your going to fit an induction kit, rip out the carbon canister, extend the pipework and position the filter under the wing where there's a chance of some cold air.

If your going to fit an induction kit' date=' rip out the carbon canister, extend the pipework and position the filter under the wing where there's a chance of some cold air.[/quote']And a good chance, given the weather here, that you'll drag up some water from the puddles and detonate your engine, or at the very least end up ruining your filter by keep drenching it in water!! Was going to do this mod myself until I read about the chance of dragging up water from it! A guy on the Vortex website had it happen to him! When you look at the gains (ie very minimal, if any) It just isn't worth the risk and hassle! So have got a Ram Air in the standard position, just cos I'm addicted to the noise! vwmadgirl 0
Soon to have a ram air.. .....if it ever gets here. x) .!!!
Macca 1
Im with six appeal here. My ramair was in the normal position but i had a cold air feed pipe that covered one side of the filter in all sorts of dirt. took it off as i didnt want any crap to get through to the engine and im sure, for whatever reason, it sounds better without the cold air feed. Guest Olly_K
so have you got a cold feed up to the ram air in the normal position ?i was thinking about getting some sort of heat shield

If your going to fit an induction kit' date=' rip out the carbon canister, extend the pipework and position the filter under the wing where there's a chance of some cold air.[/quote']I've taken out the carbon canister and run a big (80mm dia I think) cold air feed from the bumper and attached it straight onto the front of my BMC... no more hot air! Macca 1
so have you got a cold feed up to the ram air in the normal position ?i was thinking about getting some sort of heat shieldYep, there was a picture of it in the gallery, but i cant get into the gallery any more. It ran down to the bottom of the front bumper, i think you'd have problems if you have air con. It doesnt fit mine now cos the vento headlights are too big.
patrick green 0
Isn't the point of the carbon filter inside the BMC to insulate it from the hot air in the engine bay? I thought that was the main advantage of having one over a standard induction kit? I have a 60mm cold air feed from the bottom of the bumper but tomorrow I'm gonna add another from the other side to see what difference (if any) it makes.
mightyvr6 0
The air filter is oiled to repel water and you'd have to drive through a lake to suck up enough water to hydrolock your engine. Detonation more likely by sucking in hot engine air. Anyway there's supposed to be a plastic splash tray installed under the front wing so the filter would be protected. madmonkee 0
if you buy a viper x induction kit it comes with the right sized nut to fit to the wheel arch.

I thought that was the main advantage of having one over a standard induction kit? It is one of the advantages... the other is that you can actually attach a cold air intake onto the front of it so cold air goes straight into it
