coullstar 2
I currently run a standard airbox with K&N panel filter however I was looking into placing a filter in the wing type deal. However I am debating if it is really worth spending money on. Does anybody have a before and after RR report to prove they work? TBH I dont think the cost per bhp/torque increase is justified for these kits.
cadguy77 0
I read in many forums that the kits are near on useless, only preffered for the noise they produce. And as you say bhp/
binliner 0
I've found you do usually see small gains on the rr but whether theyre any different on the road is another matter... if you just want the noise then drill holes in the wing side of your airbox
coullstar 2
Ive done that, it just seems that everybody goes for these kits when you dont really need to. Surely if you remove the carbon canister and route a pipe from the bumper up into the OE airbox this will have pretty much the same effect.
Ciaran 4
i agree that it will make little difference.bought a ram air last month and it made my car slower so bought a bmc and going to see what difference it makes will report back my findings
andy 0
There have been 7bhp gains seen with a BMC (on a VR6) which is leagues ahead of most induction kits. The reasons for this are many, but with the BMC its the heat shielded airbox, filter design and the airflow through the airbox that makes the difference. RAMair filters will always suffer because they are sucking in hot under-bonnet air. There's much more going on in a BMC. They are very expensive though I'll give you that. I have one and its massively better than the RAMair I had before.
Ciaran 4
does it sound better aswell andy??
andy 0
Miles better, very civilised on mild throttle, nice burble under load, howling banshee if you floor it, quiet at normal motorway speeds.
badboyV6 4
just a note but i purchased a kit from the US a few weeks back- its a polished aluminium mandrel bend tube that drops down to a K&N where the carbon cannister sits. Does a lot better job than the K&N 57i kit and sounds better. Cost me 60 quid all in. One bad point though is the paranoia of driving through a huge puddle or something in the winter.. Looks lovely too..

DundeeDub 0
another benifit of the mbc is that fack that to clean it you only need to take it apart and wash the filter under water, you do not need to oil it or anything, very very handy
purple highline monster 0
just gonna stick with my standard airbox i think, till the day arrives when i am going to stick a f****** great supercharger on in its place!!!!!

sijo 0
I went from a standard set-up to a K&N 57i, which was an improvement, I then got a ABD bigbore intake, which also improved the top end of the rev range. However it was far too loud and I ended up scaring other drivers. So I bought a BMC CIA, which was a pain to fit, but was much quieter and seamed to level out the rev range. I've since replaced the ABD intake with the standard pipe to maximise the MPG which is currently 26.4 on a tank. All 10 mile trips. I really would like to take all my parts to a rolling road to see what set-up works best under particular types of driving.
matth76 1
Hi this BMC air filter sounds pretty good and effective. How much are they? Does it have it's own air filter housing similar to the standard air filter housing?
