cadguy77 0
Does anyone have one of these lower set temperature thermostats installed on their VR?I'm looking at buying one with a new fan switch which is also set to the lower temp.If you do, does it improve your engine cooling? vr6freak 3
yes i got them but haven't fitted yet. Been told they really good. It will deffo make the fan come earlier to bring down the temp and the thermostat opens early too. so yeah it should help in theory
ingham 5
i have them ,they are very good

Slim 0
I got the thermostat from Awesome GTi, very happy with it, the fan switch was a 3 pin connector though so didn't fit my car, must just be for early VR's so I don't have one of them.

cadguy77 0
Thermostats are a one spanner job (Haynes terminology)
dubloke 4
though the haynes catalogue doesn't actually cover the vr6 engine, so how would he know! its not as easy as most other cars, but hardly on the difficult side! i removed the housing complete on mine when changing hoses to check all was well with the housing as well as they are prone to cracking! Palkid7 0
Another question guys, what if I remove it, what would happen, I live in the Dubai, in the gulf area where the tempreture reaches about 45oC, yet the temp in my car is normal and always less than a 100 when I really push it hard on the car, where on normal conditions it is always 90 in the summer. Yet my car doesn't have a thermostat, when I checked the car once I got it , i found out that there wasn't a one installed, so I ignored it !! well my question now, will it effect the engine;s preformance ??!? any idea ?!?! sijo 0
Iv'e had a lower temp thermo on my car for a year now and it's money well spent, just think of those traffic jams . . . only thing is, it's takes a little longer to heat the car up in the winter, maybe an extra 5 mins

dubloke 4
i've had one fitted for a while and there is some noticebale difference! mine has no probs with winter warm up tho, blowing warm air after around 2 mins of driving, and hot air after another 2!
