Ok, so far for engine mods i've added a K&N induction kit and a full system with decat pipe.

Ok my question is what mods do i do next and how much do you think they'll cost?

I'd get fully adjustable koni's as this will sort the handling out first then add mods for power (Schrick manifold, gas flowed head, Cams)

you can get 300 bhp with a stage 3 supercharger kit, or you can get a turbo kit that maybe able to supply more power and of course you'll be used to the power delivery, and you'll know what needs to be changed internally to create more than 300 bhp.

Supercharger is very reliable if ur looking for 250bhp and can take you up to about 320bhp...

of course its not four wheel drive but at least you'll have the corner exit accelleration that fwd's give....

You havent mentioned what the budget is or what you want from the car so but if you're after about 250bhp a supercharger is your best bet and can cost as little as £1200 If by the above you mean you want a naturally aspirated 250bhp then it'll cost a lot more... but if you've spent £550 on lights you can afford it!

I really don't wanna go for a supercharger as i don't think you ca just slap one on and away you go. I've left behind a string of turbo cars to have a NA car.

You can pretty much just bolt them on if you're only looking for about 250bhp from it... if you were going for 300+ then you'd be wise to start uprating things but charged VRs are pretty reliable tbh and give you the best bang per buck imo

The mods you've listed wouldnt get you anywhere near 250bhp but would improve the mid range torque no end and is definitely a tried & tested route to go down

For a reliable 250 bhp a supercharger it is, 300+ then the bottom end would need to be uprated for reliability.

So who can i take my car to fior a supercharger conversion? If i could run 250 - 260 bhp safely then i would go down this route

stealth racing are the best for supercharger installs, you can buy a charger from nsracing or c2 motorsports in the USA. vfengineerings stage 1 = 250bhp and c2 motorsports stage 1 = 280bhp

vf : stage 1 - 250, 2-280, 3 - 310+

c2: 1 - 280, 2 310+ bhp

250-280 the vr can handle without upgrades, although go easy on gear box, they dont like being mistreated even with N/A. all the kits comes with the upgrades you need, the vf stage 1 is easy, its bolt on, but you need to tap your sump (which is easy), the c2 stage 1 has fuel injectors (like vf's stage 2) and need to be fitted, but it does come with a prewelded fitting on an OE sump (brand new!)...which is good.

I'm a little confoosd. If you're used to a 4WD racer then why the change to something so 'tame'? Either way, the VR has a better image

The VR CAN be safely Super Charged up to 300bhp with no further mods. Both Stealth and NS (Nik Saran) racing do this mod and are both as good as each other (or so I'm told). I have contacted both with a view to doing this and was assured by both that the VR will safely go up to 270bhp with no problems.
