Ah I have been to another halfords near me and they mix paints and my badgless grill looks perfect now.

should there be a paint code on the log book i cant find a sticker next to the spare my service history is a print out from vw up to 2004 and that doesn`t seem to have it oh the log book just says grey but im pretty sure its storm grey but needs some paint so need to check thanks

I know it a rather late reply but halfords down chilwell retal park mix paints and it was bang on. 12 pound a can though!

the colour code for my car is LC9Z - wich i know is Black Magic Pearl,(nice thread)

my real question: is that the colour of highlines or is that a different black? (as mine isnt a highline) thanks in advance

someones prob posted this before but just thought id add, Hammerite multi purpose anti rust paint in the hammered black colour is an almost exact match for the black magic paint on highlines.done some rusty bits underneath the doors and i have trouble telling the diffrence. go for the rattle cans tho as the brush on seems a slight diffrent shade

Great thread thought I'd add a little if you get stuck there's a sticker on the inside of the drivers side wing with the paint code top left hand side mine was lp3g here's a quick pic.

My Mk3 is LP5U, bright blue metallic? Never really seen other Mk3's in this blue, may be quite rare. When I googled it the images were mainly Mk2 Golfs
