Justicevr6 0
HI all,In my thread saying hi to you all velocity boy said "sod cosmetics. spend the money under the bonnet. a sleeper sharan, that would be really cool. get sumut like a stage 4 supercharger in there. few other bits and b4 u kno it uv got 400bhp. 170mph and u can bring the wife and kids" Just as a thought what would I need to do and how much would it cost,it will do 130ish so don't realy want much more speed maybe 150 !amazed but I would love to get 0-60 lower.Money is an issue the wife makes sure of that !sad .whoops forgot to mention also it's an auto (new box a year ago) just in case that makes a difference. Nerih 0
lol, its an MPV, but the only way to go is to supercharge it, not sure if it'll munch your auto up though.300bhp is probably the best you can expect to put down reliably.afterall you dont want your charger blowing and strand the missus with the kids in the rain far from a bus stop! VRmonster 1
the vr auto boxes dont hold up to power all too well as the torque converters just give in. id say a stage 1 charger is probably your limit without causing too many problems, i think that would be a very big power hike for an mpv. lol. Justicevr6 0
What would something like that cost to do. ?!
simey 0
An autobox can handle the power but not for long!!
beetle.jim 0
The sharan vr6 only puts out 140 bhp to start with. Dont know what they done to it, or if you can swap bits with a mk3 engine to get the power up.
Eat this 2
id be tempted with a 2.9 rado engine should be easy conversion and 200 ish bhp and similar torque standard
Justicevr6 0
Parkers quide has the BHP ratted at 174bhp and it drive as if there is more than just 140bhp
ingham 5
i heard that they have differant cams
beetle.jim 0
Tim Stiles golf gti performance manaul say's not to use the sharan engine for vr6 conversions because its 140bhp. He may be wrong though.
Justicevr6 0
At the end of the day it's an MPV not a Sports car but I must admit it is fun to drive, having said that I do not know if any work has been done on the engine,I know it has had a new gearbox so maybe it is worth looking at the engine number as it is posible a car engine may have been put in.On the way home on the M1 I took it upto 120mph and there was still lots left in the old bus. Eat this 2
i heard that they have differant camsme too jason i think they make a bit more nidrange torque at the expense of top end torque ie bhp slap a rado engine in and get the best of both world hehe
J5KE F 0
i'm sorry but you cant possibly drive that fast without a charger! lol
Justicevr6 0
I have been looking at the engine and have noticed that there is a secondry electric air intake pump that helps to push more air into the air box, would anyone know if this was upgraded to push out more volume would it increase power. :! antera309 3
The engine in the Sharan VR6 95-00 is the same 2792cc 174BHP 12V unit as the Golf Mk3. All are OBD2.2000 onwards Sharan V6s have the 204BHP 24v unit, same as the Golf Mk4 4Motion.For the early type 12v engine, I reckon a Shrick manifold, 268 cams and a remap would be a good bet. The extra torque will go a long way to counteracting the weight of the body and there's no reliability worries.
Justicevr6 0
antera309 thanks for the information,I have been thinking and I may well sell my model car to help finance this, are the parts easy to obtain secondhand.

antera309 3
There's a group buy going on 268 cams at the moment. Get yourself a set of these, a BMC CDA filter and a custom remap at Stealth and you should get what you're looking for.
