timing chanis and clutch prices?

hi guys the garage doing my chains are telling me they want 350 for parts tomo....now iv looked on europarts and come to a totol of 250 max inc VAT....are they having a laugh or is it more expensive from VW?

im gunna hit some1 ~

Main dealers always charge max r.r.p whilst most motor factors put a more realistic price on things,I rang the main vw dealer for a part and got quoted

if its consumables, im happy using OEM products from EuroCarParts....its things like timing chains that i would get from VW....things like spark plugs i'd but else where....i prefer buying VW original for parts that could blow my engine to bits.

get engine parts from ford the galaxy is a vr6 exactly the same parts just shite loads cheaper

yeh my mechanic had a galaxy with the vr6 engine and his chains had slipped when he baught it and it was deaded

You need to factor in all the parts for a timing chain change, the tensioners and guides, both upper and lower really bump the price up. There's no point changing chains and not the other parts too. Genuine VW parts are much more expensive too, upper chain is

Anyone know how much all the timing chain parts are from Ford compared to VW?

yeah that id like to know aswell as mine are starting to get noisy vw compared to ford.
