Lack of low down torque in my 1994 VR6

I have always wondered if my 1994 VR6 (coilpack model) has been down on low end power.

On the weekend I met a bloke who has owned a 94 VR6 with the same spec as mine (standard engine apart from a replacement K+N) , he also thinks that my car lacks low end power as well.

The car idles well, runs cleanly though the rev range and pulls well over 3800 rpm but lack low end.

Its always run like this since I have owned it (a year).

Any ideas on what it can be?

CAT sensor?

Intake sensor?

Spark plugs?

if the timing chain has skipped 1 tooth this can happen how many miles has it done the tensioner could be worn out

get it on vagcom (get fault codes read) first, it could be loads of things, he could be using a higher octane fuel than you.
