I think I'm fairly well placed to answer this one. The auto box on my VR6 Vento is very good. It has a clever adaptive shift. When you're driving around normally, it shifts early, keeping RPM down and improving fuel economy. However, press the accelerator quickly and sport mode engages. In sport mode, the VR6 will rev right round to the redline and make very rapid progress indeed. Overall, it works very well and is pretty smooth.

An auto box is so much nicer when you're in stop/start traffic too ... :)

[blockquote]But come on, if you're getting a vr6, get the manual!! [/blockquote]

Bear in mind that some people need autos. I had a car crash a few years back and I damaged my wrist. I didn't want to get a slugger auto either at the time. I eventually settled on a 200SX which I modified to just shy of 300bhp. It made having a manual somewhat more bearable!

Fortunately after a year with an auot my wrist had healed enough to get a manual again.
