VR6Pete 1,455
My car has a habbit of cutting out when going over bumps! naturally this made my trip to and from Ragley Hall entertaining as the revs dropped (and wanting to cut out) at every bump in the road!Driving home tonight from my local take away, it cut out completly while going over a series of bumpy bits in the road.....It's progressibly got worse over the last month, any idea what it could be?Pete
badboyV6 4
like i said bud, sounds like a dodgy earth to me, or definitely something loose. Does it feel like fuel starvation or more the engine just completely cutting out?
Justicevr6 0
Dose it only do it on bumps , have you tried slowing as if there were bumps on a flat road, also up a hill so the car is under load.
VR6Pete 1,455
only on bumpy surfaces... up hill/under load/down hill is fine, but over bumps it does it and when turning hard lefts like a roundabout.... not sure what it is... normally it drops about 1,000 revs and picks up again, if it's loads of bumps it cuts out. Nerih 0
try idling it on your drive way and pushing up and down on the engine, if the revs go up and down you can narrow it down to a faulty earth somewhere there...it shouldnt be too hard to find.

Eat this 2
thought they wer obd1 only
Nerih 0
yeah, you wont find an ICV on an odb2. i beleive they use a stepper motor on the throttle body instead to keep an idle.
purple highline monster 0
something loose bud, get around your engine bay and try all the plugs and sensors, cant be anything major. check your fuse box isnt loose either cutting out is electrical dont think an earth would necesarily cause that especially as its been progresive and only over bumps. TVR6 0
I get the same thing when I go over bumps, my foot comes off the pedal but then my foot hits the gas again and I take off Sorry!
VR6Pete 1,455
Where is the engine earth strap?
VR6Pete 1,455
Fixed! It was actually pin 15 on my dastek that had a dodgy connector..... The ECU had worked loose, so when I turned left it slid about, thus making it appear worse when turning left!!A very happy Pete.

alanf 0
Reminds of a post on another forum I visit, guy was moaning about a clicking/knocking noise under the dash or the front end that occured when he straightened out after a bend! varius suggestions were put forward for the cause! from UJ 's, anti roll bar bushes, top mounts etc, turned out in the end that his mrs had plugged in her phone charger and thrown the cigar lighter into the glove box :? the cause of the noise !lol
