De-ristricting

Hello,

First post here so please be gentle !shy

Am I right in thinking that my VR6 (standard) is restricted to 130MPH top speed? If so, is there an easy way to have it de-restricted? And is that a wise move - are these cars stable at 130++?

restriction is airbox but it can be modded

mine goes faster than 130 with standard airbox and filter. only mechanical mod is exhaust

Just over 140 in my highline on a test track. the car felt very stable but i was thinking about what would happen if i had a blow out at that speed, so i havn't done it again.

Fastest I've been is just under 150Mph whilst in Germany - felt stable but the back end does start hopping around on long fast bends :0)

i have found the back end a bit "light" on mine at speed or under braking, bit too ford capri like!!!

Not sure about stability on a standard VR but they certainly aren't restricted to 130mph.

Autocar averaged 139mph around the Millbrook bowl back in 1991 which equates to about 142mph on the flat.

Speedometers will always over-read too so 150 on the clock isn't impossible.

your car should do more than 130 even if it is standard, i've got a few mods on mine but i've had it just over 150. past 150 and it does start to feel unsteady tho!!

I had a rear blow out at high speed (90),it started snaking and then headed to the central resavation oh shite was all that was going through my mind and then becouse of the strain the tyre on the other side let go and I did a 180o spin and ended up facing the wrong way by pure luck the car came to a stop in the slow lane facing oncomming traffic that has all braked hard so were a 100m down the road all this in a LWB Transit.

yep same here, i was doing well over 150, and its just when you have that thought of "if i was to have a blow out now, its game over" hence the lifting of the right foot! i'll let you know what its really capable of when the charger is on!
