TVR6 0
What a mess. I much prefer the original.
jaysVR6 2
How many people would have said exacly the same thing about the Mk3 VR6 when it came out I wonder? 'Looks no different than a GTi??'But when it comes to owning one and noticing all the subtle differences (and the huge ones!!) it knock socks off the GTI.I dare say its the same with the new R32. Even so, I still think I prefer the MK4 R32 for looks, no doubt it's not as good as the new one but for looks alone i'd still go for the MK4.
Nerih 0
standard vr6's do look very much like GTI's, the r32 does look like a mk5....yes the performance is different. My concern is that the original r32 was a bold car, with a beautiful body kit, a lovely ride, and making the fat mk4 look half decent. This mk5 r32 just looks too normal, which means that grandpa's and the like will buy it, which is great for VW, great for the modyfying scene since people will make loads of body kits.i'm not a fan of the design, i prefer the gti...they did a good job with the mk5 gti, i thought it was 4wheel drive but its only 2fwd? badboyV6 4
GTI is front wheel drive, R32 is 4wd... :-)
coullstar 2
Change the wheels and it would be ok. 168mph!!! Imagine what a charged one would do.
TVR6 0
My mind doesn't change, something can grow on me but not often. My first impressions of the looks of a car are usually the ones that stay with me unless I can see potential. The new R32 to me will always remain an ugly beast. I'm not fan of the MK3s looks either and never have been but it's better looking than the Mk4 (imo) and isn't a crowd follower
antera309 3
It's a shame about the styling, it's probably a nice car to drive.Looks aren't everything I guess. The Subaru Impreza STi is an ugly beast, but as soon as you drive one, you see the attraction...I'm sure the aftermarket will step in with some nice replacement bumpers & 'zorsts for the R32 which will improve it's looks massively, but IMO the Mk5 wasn't a particularly nice shape to start with. Way too Ford Focus Mk1 for my liking. With the new Mini, BMW took the shape of the original, sized it up, modernised it and it was a huge success. VW should have done the same thing with the new Golf - made it a bigger, modernised version of the Mk1. Now that would sell.
Bezman 0
Only thing I'm not sure about are the wheels. But who cares everyone changes them anyway.I'd have one tommorrow if I had the money. Don't think you'll see too many grandpa's driving them though Nerih, far too expensive ! and no supercharger
