SHARKY 0
Hi guys...As the title suggests, my cooling fan has decided to pack up today. Engine temp went up to near 110 degrees and oil temp went up to 112 degrees. Luckily I was only about 1 mile from home when I noticed a nasty smell and noticed the gauges (still managed to upset an Impreza driver though !lol !lol ). When I got home there was smoke coming from the moter on the right hand fan and the blades on both fans wouldn't turn. It smells nasty too!!!I don't think theres any other damage than the fan, as it was running fine - just hot. I think I saw it just in time!! :? Is this a big job?? Also, what costs should I prepare for, and how long?? I'm thinking drain the system, remove front end and replace fans. Anything else to consider??Any advice would be great... I was going for my M.O.T. tomorrow - perfect timing eh..? !dodge
robvr6 0
have you checked for any loose wires, maybe one has come off,
SHARKY 0
Hey there ROBVR6...Cheers for the reply...Can't see any loose wires...Definitely think its the fan motor - the smoke was coming from between the fan and the motors' cylinder, and it smelled like BADLY roasted peanuts!!! And, because the blades don't turn, it has to be the motor rather than a loose wire.

craggsy 91
You'll need to drain system as it all has to come out even air con if you have it.....plus I have both fans sat in my garden from a 95 car I think. It has a white connector
