vr6madforit 0
I need to insulate my 6 branch! Ive been told that the wrap wont last very long. Does anyone know if there is any wrap that will last or where i can get a heat shield from to stop my engine bay overheating! Even if the shield has to be fabricated!Cheers Y'all. FishWick 21
The idea of wrapping is to help the header retain heat, not reduce bay temps. Stainless doesn't retain heat as well as cast iron and it's the heat of the manifold that pulls spent gases out of the cylinders, so you want to keep that manny lagged, especially over winter. francisjonno 2
Is it a good idea to wrap the exhaust? I thought about doing it but isn't there a danger of the extra heat warping the head? (it's only alloy!)
mgbv8mike 1
There's a lot of nonsense talked about lagging...my V8 MGB exhausts have been lagged for years...Frost are the cheapest suppliers...I tried plumbers fibreglass lagging as used by TVR's racing dept...but it was very itchy to use and soon deteriorated.I've just bought a 6 branch for the Corrado, this is now lagged...goes on next week.
