SPEED FREAK 0
Greetings to whoever read this, I've recently purchased my VR and have 2 concerns1. The car seems to drift to the left when I take my hands off the steering wheel, the steering wheel does slightly seem to turn to the left no real pulling to either when i've got my hands on the steering.Tyre pressures are the same up front. (am thinking getting a gmax coilover kit this weekend so if it is suspension related might be able to it sorted)2.how much play should there be in gear stick in also the box seems lose/notchy tried 2 another vr's before they felt similar, is this normal(had an e30 before the box felt a lot tighter)
Col_M 0
1. you could be experiencing either torque steer (which you wouldn't have got in your RWD E30) or maybe it's just following the camber of the road, if it's neither of those i'd get the alignment/suspension and brakes checked out.2. I've never driven any other VR6s but it doesn't feel as positive as some other cars i've driven, i'm pretty much used to it now anyway.
gripper 0
If it's only wandering slightly to one side then it is most probably in need of an alignment, it's something that can be checked easily by any decent tyre shop and then adjusted as necessary.
Eat this 2
tbh iv never found the vr torque steers BUT mine does follow road camber a bit
Nerih 0
tracking is probably fine, you need your front camber adjusting, go to a garage that does camber alignment.as for lose gears, its a cable throw mechanism so its likely to have some play in it.
SPEED FREAK 0
sorry failed to mention had the tracking checked before I posted the post I would assume they would have checked correct camber, although it was kwik fit and I was served by a young munky with spots call alan so i might try another tyre place - cheers
uber-tub 0
Forget tracking.. and forget Kwik Fit type places unless they can do what's called 'Four wheel total toe'. That's what you need to ask for. It is a process which will check the geomatry of all four wheels in relation to each other as checking one wheel is not necessarily much cop.Sloppy gearchange? Try lifting the leather boot around the gearstick and look at the bottom of the gearstick connection. There should be a pivot which allowsthe gearstick to move left and right. It should have a cir-clip on the end which sometimes falls off allowing too much movement. Or it could just be wear in cable connections. Get someone to slowly waggle gearstick whilst you've got your head under the bonnet and see if there's any excessve play in the cables.
corradogang* 0
could be your suspension bushes .at around this time they are all knackered + shocks as well
stockers 1
i'm sure its not the tracking, it will be camber or shocks.camber (and they will do 4 wheel alignment aswell) will be approx
antera309 3
Forget tracking.. and forget Kwik Fit type places unless they can do what's called 'Four wheel total toe'. That's what you need to ask for...Garages tend to refer to this procedure as "Full 4-wheel alignment".I had a similar problem with "drifting" to one side under acceleration and a full 4 wheel alignment at AmD sorted it out. VR6Pete 1,455
Stealth Racing also do it: http://www.stealthracing.co.uk/4wheel.php
Nerih 0
if someone offers to do your full tracking for 25 quid dont believe it, i went to a tyre shop and they told me 35 quid per side for camber (front wheels), it requires specialist equipment to do, get it done proper m8, it'll cost u, but its worth it and most garages chain garages dont do it?! silverline 0
i ve got a similar problem with mine pulling to the left. noticed that the off side front wheel is leaning into the arch and the near side is leaning out, with some dodgy uneven tread wear! was just going to get normal tracking looked at but guess i shud go for the full sh-bang!!
