VR6Pete 1,455
Normally looking at past MOT certificates might show a discrepancy in the vehicle mileage?
simonvr6 0
look at the old mots and service history if any. look 4 shiny steering wheel, worn drivers out seat, carpet on the drivers side etc. have the clocks been changed at some point? if so is there a bill for it etc.

28v6r 0
Call at yer Stealers, give them your reg and ask them to track the car on Dialogue.. They will be able to tell you all its history...there you will find out if its clocked or not...
pharcyde 0
cheers for all the help....basically i had it on e bay for sale ... to see its potential worth and i had some bloke ringing up claiming to be a previous owner telling me that he had sold it with higher mileage .....but then asking a day later if i wanted to do a part exchange with a much lowered valued car he wanted to get rid of :? ......instantly making me think it was just a con tactic to try and get a hugely knock down price on the car so me thinks he could well be being a bit inventive with his story....plus it has an hpi report and ive had it in at the phirm alot recently for servicing etc and they havent raised any suspicions about it wear wise etc ?.......any thoughts....is all much appreciated cheers
petervr6 0
sound suspect.
Seademon 0
Yeah sounds like the ebay blokes trying to pull a fast one!
VR6Pete 1,455
Cant trust anyone on Ebay, probably just trying to drive the price down! If he WAS the past owner, then legally, it should be on the log book, no?
robvr6 0
if he knew it was clocked why would he want it back ?
petervr6 0
spot on.
MrBen 0
I wouldn't worry about it. Just ignore the 'previous owner' and get on with selling it. Personally, I think people worry too much about recorded mileages anyway - as I'm sure lots of them are wrong. Unless I can be absolutely sure the mileage is correct, I ignore it and look at a car on it's condition.
