engine speed sensor location

it's only held in with a single bolt..

i think its a 5mm allen key . . .

literally just undo then remove

yeah its about that. it can be a fiddle to get out specially with the engine in the car. mine was out and i had the gerbox off which made it easier.

if yours is the original one then vw put the bolt in with locktite so they are proper tight but once you've cracked it off it should come out quite easily.

i have a fault with my speed sensor... what does it do???? and do ECP sell them ???

i think the engine speed sensor and the camshaft sensor (or hall sensor) work together to measure engine speed and camshaft timing to ensure continuous smooth running.

they are a bosch item so i think you can only get them from either vw or a bosch dealer. i know gsf dont do them. try ECP by all means.

where is the 5mm bolt on the end or side of the sensor? cant seem to find it??

the bolt is just to the right of the sensor as your looking at it.

i thought the rev counter worked electronically off ignition timing?
