Roop 0
Hi,1998 VR6 Highline.ABS light came on went to wayside who cleared the error - but said i need an abs pump -about 500 quid!!!got a 2nd opinion at a VW specialist who confirmed this.they say that even though the abs light is out - the pump needs replacing. apparently the code is still present.abs seems to function ok - but am in doubt as whether to replace or not.Do i need a new pump, anyone know where i can get one cheaper - eurocarparts.co.uk only seem to have LHD versions.also: front discs/pads need replacing - any recomendations to uprated versions - cross drilled / vented etc.ThanksRoop. antera309 3
I have the same problem. ABS Pump needed.Lots of scrapyards have them, but I'm a bit worried about the bleeding procedure...Nick
antera309 3
Oh, on the brake discs, try the Tar-Ox G40 (40 Groove) discs. They work well and make a lovely noise when you use them hard.Nick.
VR6Steve 0
Same problem with mine. The light comes on every now and again then not for weeks. It stores in the memory as a sporadic pump fault. ABS still works, keep my fingers crossed it lasts a good while longer.

ukdub 0
if you fit a new abs pump you must bleed it with the engine running (i think)
