Is a Milltek full system (plus high flow cat) very good for use with a Supercharger?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have a full Milltek system... which also includes Milltek high flow cat. I've been told by Stealth Racing it is the same bore diameter as the standard vw exhaust at 2.25" but much more free flowing (I assume due to smaller silencers and of course high flow cat). My question is would it work very well and in harmony with a supercharger, i.e getting the most power / torque possible/available, or is there a certain bhp limit where you then need a 2.5" or 3" bore or similar? Or would a Milltek (including high flow cat) be TOO restrictive? I do know if you go too big with the exhaust you actually lose torque... Just wondered if Milltek is a good system if I decided to fit a supercharger in the future?

Also, what bore is the Supersprint exhaust system and does anyone have pics of the tailpipe on one of these exhausts... how loud is a Supersprint compared to a Milltek?

Out of interest what kind of exhaust diameter is the standard R32 (mark 4 or 5) which I believe has around 240/250bhp now (can anyone provide bhp figures as well on either marks)?

Hi i make custom stainless exhausts and the demo car for the business is a mk2 vr6 stage 2 supercharged with a 2. 5inch straight through exhausts just in the process of getting the ecu done so cant tell you what its running. will let you know how it goes. before fitting the charger we put the system on which includes a decat and it produced a noticable change in throttle response and torque. i would recomend putting on a 2.5 inch system but 3inch is just to big best suiting turbo cars. 2.25 inch is too restrictive for the charger. i would highly recomend a decat pipe. gofor 2.5 inch happy meduim. let me know how it goes

Standard VAG exhausts are fine with blowers, well, the Corrado Lientz one is at least. The only downside is the Rado system is VERY heavy!

Milltek system weighs about a 3rd of it!

I have a Milltek sports cat (100 cell) on my blown VR and it doesn't feel any different to when I had a SuperSprint bypass on there.

I've just been through the same thing as you matt. I'm getting the C2 stage 1 charger fitted soon(hopefully rob!) and have been looking at replacing the whole exhaust system. From numerous phone calls and opinions i have decied to go for 2.5" bore throughout with a de-cat pipe, not the high-flow cat.

The HFC is VERY expensive compared to a de-cat pipe, and for the sake of 20 mins work every year for the MOT it isn't worth it.

Also, the de-cat pipe well be less restrictive anyway, better figures.

I tried to get Miltek to do a cat back system for me with a 2.5 bore and they weren't very helpful. The answer i got was no. That was it.

So i have decided to go for a custom exhaust from these www.exhaustuk.co.uk

Close to me and they are very reasonable with the price. You can choose your tailpipe and amount of silencers. I'm going for as quiet as possible as i want the supercharger to be the loudest part of the car!! ;-)

Hope this helps, sorry its soooo long!
