Coolant

hi

ive bought some g12plus antifreeze for my vr but i got a few questions.

Where do i drain my water from?

My car has developed a leak from the water bottle, its leaking from the middle where its sealed from.(In between the Min and Max mark) any one ever had this prob?

Finally am i right i have to put 50/50 antifreeze and water, 4 litres antifreeze /4litres water?

50/50 is a good mixture. the antifreeze acts as a corrosion preventitive which is a must on an aluminium head such as the VR's. i ve always drained mine from the bottom hose on the radiator.

you could try some silicone on the leak but once plastic is cracked thats it really, could do with being replaced.

how about taking it off and using a soldering iron carefully weld the crack up?

will work tempory but wil break again and its not that easy to do it neatly

true. get a second hand 1 from a breaker, its not worth buggering around with.

the whole mk3 golf range (and possibly more) share the same coolant bottle so theres no shortage of them.

i know the books say 50/50, but i would er toward 60/40 water to coolant....
