Ooooops Spent too much money :(

Recommended Posts

Well guys my VR has been in a friends garage back home in Plymouth for the last week and a half for some work, I've had the head off because of overun smoking and sure enough it was exhaust guides and stem seals.

I was also told, given 6 months my head gasket would have popped.

Originally I was quoted around 500 notes but the bill has risen, partly to do with me.

I've had:

New Guides

New Valves

New Stem Seals

New Head Gasket and bolts etc.

Oil, filter, Anti Freeze

New strut tops for MOT

(my choice) Inlet manifold, throttle body and rocker cover mirror polished, properly!

Been spending loads lately myself - but I don't see the point in not doing it and losing all the cash i've splashed out over the last year. Everytime I think about getting rid of the VR I just take it for a blast!!!

I'd never get the cash back i've spent!!

Out of interest' date=' what is your friends garage? i'm thinking of getting my chains done in the summer, i was given an estimate of between £1800 and £2300 depending on labour by a local VW specialist, needless to say they can forget it.

fook i got my chains done for 250 plus parts

yeah but to be fair look how much work jay has had done including guids as well! personally i dont think thats a bad price at all mate- and the polishing was fair too- i paid 90 for the inlet manifold to be polished and mine wasnt done completely!

Basically you have a new top end bud, bottom end is always strong so nothin to worry about on that front! i need a new rack too.. but lets be honest - your cars a minter and its worth spending the money on. If you bought a new car for say 20k youd lose at least double that in a year :-)
