TVR6 0
Basically, car went into a local garage for timing chains, tensioner, guides and clutch. Collected it, started her up and got a bit of a rough start, slightly high revs which settled down quickly enough and a thumping type exhaust note, a little like a quiet V8. It seemed to be missing and wouldn't pull very well. Took her back and was told that it was a damaged HT lead which they replaced (whole set) in adition to new spark plugs FOC. Went back yesterday, same thing only not as bad. Drives smoother but loss of power and still has that Harley/V8 feel/sound about it. They swear they got the timing right and claim that have rechecked it. Any ideas? I'm begining to worry that they've busted my baby
Geastb 0
Had something like this on mine - the V8 sound was coming from the small pipe that attaches to the manifold - my small rubber 'bung' had disintigrated allowing exhaust fumes to escape. May not be the same on yours but worth checking! The missing could be a plug breaking down - or even plug leads again - aparently (i was told) VR6s eat plugs and leads! Nerih 0
vr6s dont eat plugs or leads any more than any other v6 in a small bay.
Guest Jomps
I've had the same problem. 1 plug was getting fowled, so new plugs and leads later she ran OK.....for a while. Had her wired up for a check on the ecu and found the lambda sensor was faulty causing the ecu to over fuel. The lambda sensor itself was ok but the positive feed to it had failed. A new positive feed from the coil solved this, until today when I got the same problem again. Back for diagnostics I think!
vr6turbo 27
when i got the timing out by one tooth it sounded louder on the inductionand lacked power at wide open throttlemay be an air leak on the vac pipesworth checkingits real easy to mess up the cam timing even for the local garagegood luck
Eat this 2
check the pipe that runs under the induction kit its got a t piece in it mine was knackered
stockers 1
i would think that they have put the timing chains on slightly out, mine were slightly out on my old vr due to a shitty mechanic, had huge power loss, went into stealth putting out about 120bhp and came after they adjusted the timing chains at 194bhp totally standard except magnex exhaust if the mechanics keep pointing you allover the place other than the work they carried out i would go elsewhere, try stealth or similar well renowned garage for a second opinion
