antera309 3
The Police State has officially arrived. This is Communism, plain and simple. Makes me wonder who we've really got in charge... If used to detect the whereabouts of stolen cars, vehicles used in serious crimes and vehicles owned by people linked with terrorism, this blatantly "Big Brother" system would still be unworthy of support from the public. But we all know this is not what the system will be used for anyway. It will be used for only four purposes as far as I can see: 1) Revenue from blanket, zero-tolerance speed limit enforcement. 2) Revenue from additional minor fixed-penalty offences, such as tax discs 2 days out of date, prosecuting people for no MOT while driving to the MOT station, accidentally straying into a bus lane etc. The list is endless. 3) Revenue from Pay-per-mile road pricing. This will be IN ADDITION TO the fuel tax, VED etc that we already pay, not a replacement for. The system will enable them to determine in advance which are the most heavily used roads, so that these can be priced the highest. "Phase 2" will see a GPS-based system implemented to cover the roads where it is not economic to install ANPR. 4) Revenue from selling the data to market research companies etc. I may be wrong, but I will be very surprised if I am. They've gone too far this time. Once people start getting banned from driving en-masse and see their travelling costs exceed their mortgage as a result of this system, there will be a certain backlash. And let's not forget about the rich and famous that get their movements "leaked" to the tabloids... I would like to see what would happen if half the population decided to tape over or remove their numberplates..... At least it will make life easier for the Tories. All they'll need to do is promise to abolish the system for a guaranteed election win.

The1andonlygav 0
emmingration is what i've been considering for a while. This is no place to earn a living. Neither is it a place you'd want to bring your kids up in. Just gotta save up for the ferry transport!
MarkVRsix 0
Emigrating sounds like a good idea! 1 in 6 graduates now emigrate after graduation. I don't blame them, you now pay to go to uni, come out and find it hard to get a job. When you do get a job you lose most of your income through tax and NI, and what do you get for it?! From the money you do keep you might buy a car. You pay more in tax through the pumps and huge amounts of fines, be it parking, speeding, or congestion! After tax and car costs, you still don't have a house. You have to pay high prices for houses, then they sting you again with Stamp Duty, and sooon there's gonna be a buyers pack to buy too. Once you've bought the house then you have to pay massive council tax payments and for what? Rubbish collection? Its like a stranglehold thats getting tighter and tighter and I don't know how much more I can take!
antera309 3
As soon as the opportunity arises to leave this infernal Nanny state, I'm gone.
silverline 0
it annoys me how taxes just go up but nothing good ever comes as a result of it. car tax has gone up AGAIN and will continue to but the roads are still awful, full of pot holes and rough surfaces etc, wheres our money going...........? ~ ~ ~
dubloke 4
in the back pockets of the idiots who come up with the ideas to start with, and all the idiots who dont get jobs but sponge off the state. by taxing the honest to pay for the dishonest, inc most ministers in government! perhaps they should start issueing them all green tights so we know who the real robbing hoods are! though they seem to have the fairy tale story arse about face to me!!! TVR6 0
Some valid and hard hitting points...Another thing that really bites hard is the fact that we have to pay extra, on top of our taxes for these implementations. Just look at the proposed ID card, we are expected to pay for that also and it could cost anywhere between
DundeeDub 0
I'm looking to emigrate also, prob to Australia but not sure yet.I think alot of people will do this also and the country will be left will all the illegal imigrants and just a few people working that will then have to pay huge taxes to pay for the inigrants to have money. This country is getting worse and worse, i preety sure i want kids in the future but i'm never having a kid in this country, what sort of life is it going to have?? TVR6 0
Unless they're in private schooling, God alone knows!Couldn't get our 5yr old daughter into any of three schools we listed and she gets allocated a place at the 'WORST' school in the borough! i.e. the only one with a good number of places left. I protest their offer and I'm told that the Council's remit does not include selecting a 'suitable' school, just a school place. We appealed and went before a panel who listened 'sympathetically' for an hour and then rejected our appeal. You should have seen the victorious smile of the council representative when her decision was upheld, made me sick, good thing we wern't alone in the same room ~The long and short, pay your taxes, shut up, bend over and take whatever they shovel you or take a chance and defy the law and probably come out on top. DundeeDub 0
Unless they're in private schooling' date=' [/quote']With the amount of drugs etc going on in there?? I have found that there is soooo much drugs going on in private schools that are non boarding and weird sex games in schools that are boarding only, one girl i know even made the national press (well she was not named due to age) for having organised gang bangs with another girl in which they had sex with maybe 10-20 guys a night !!!!! thats the worst story i know of but have heard many more. Just think if that was your daughter and you got a letter shaying that she was getting expelled and the reasons why.
