Matt W 4
I have no experience of the powerflex exhaust mounts but i have read quite a few posts about the exhausts mounts melting. I would be tempted to go with RIX's suggestion of the Audi S3 exhaust mounts!
RIX 0
the s3 mounts are very good they are a bith wither but so they just fit.
Nerih 0
what do upgraded exhaust mounts do that stndard ones dont?
Pittuf 0
I think they hold the heavier aftermarked exhaust systems in place better. So the Audi ones, you mentioned just the centre box, iirc they are all the sam eso I should be able to use them in all four positions.....rear box as well? francisjonno 2
I'm probably wrong but i thought mk3 exhaust mounts were metal and rubber units that bolt to the underside of the car rather than just being rubber hangers!
Nerih 0
if your changing the exhaust mounts in the hope of holding a large back box high up into the car, remember that the exhaust pipes wont clear the rear valance.
RIX 0
mi friends car i lovered and with the 70mm exhust and it doesn
Pittuf 0
Cheers RixNerith....I'm getting them to stop it from swinging left to right more than anything.....don't think they will make the exhuast sit any higher...they should be the same size as the normal ones....just stiffer....well hopefully anyways
VR6Pete 1,455
If anyone told me to look for my self products I was going to buy from the 3rd party company it seriously question their skills.
Pittuf 0
Well, it seems like its common thing.I phoned powerflex yesterday and although thier website says 1 type of mount, the guy thought I would need 2 different ones.....but he couldn't be certain which ones I would need either.I phoned Demon Tweeks......who powerflex suggested I talk to......and they couldn't even tell me.....he said I would be best to try and measure the ones on there and match them to the diagrams on the powerflex website.I can't believe no one knows what exhaust mounts I need. Pittuf 0
Ok, just spoken to Stealth and they advised that it is only the middle set of mounts that can be changed. The rear ones have a metal insert (as jonno said earlier I think) and so you can only use VAG mountsThey advised that Mk3 Escourt mounts are the best replacement for the middle mounts so I'm gonna pop down to the local garage and pick up a couple of them.
