Ciaran 4
depends if the boot is burst if it is the cv joint which u can hear knocking will get badly worn and need replacing. just depends on how many miles u do but id avoid and harsh driving. oh and paypal tran done mate
richievr 1
the knocking noise will be the joint itself not the boot ...can you feel it through the steering - sometimes you can ...try not to drive it if poss otherwise you will need a new cv aswell as a boot . . . MrBen 0
Duff CV boot has leaked all the grease out and now the CV joint is running unlubricated, hence it's being noisy. Get it sorted!
jezmoz 0
can't really feel it through the steering , but it's only there when i turn , defo a knocking noise though. How much is this gonna cost to sort out , Is it an easy job????
Slim 0
I got it done a few weeks ago at a local VW specialist. Including VAT, labour and the parts, I was around

Slim 0
slim was your car knocking ? when you turned corners? No, as soon as I noticed the CV grease splattered on my alloys, I booked it in to get fixed. If something needs fixed, then it's not going to get better on its own, be as well getting it fixed as soon as you possibly can before it breaks anything else. Dubsingh 0
it is a strainght forward job. 1st undo the main drive shaft bolt leave the car on the grounf for this, these nuts can be a pain decent leverage will shift it, then jack up car remove wheel.....you will need to undo the ball joint of the whish bone so that the driveshaft can pop out. cv's are a push fit so just tap it of witha mallet...next slip on the new cv boot first followed by you new cv..regrease pop boot over and secure it.and the refir of drive shaft is just the opposite of taking it off. use a new bolt for the drive shaft...should be in the cv kit.and your done
jezmoz 0
you make it sound so easy , but ill pay someone to do it , i don't want to end up fucking it up anymore
