i have a golf vr6 and have noticed that a small pipe has broken it is located on the left had side of the engine between the blosk and the inducion pipe and has a small round block in the middle of it i was wondering if anyone knows what it is, what it does and if it is important?

oil breather filter will do nothing for performance, it's just to make sure you dont get a pressurized crank case, usually at high rpms the oil vapour will come out and be fed back into the inlet pipe work, which means ur getting oily air in ur engine, a breather is a good idea actualy, on the rollers a bit of oil smoke comes out of the breather, vince at stealth told me this is normal.
