Will there be another group buy?

ok my fellow vr6 members i've spoken to vince and guess what.....he said another group buy is possible.

aah yeh, he said that all we need is ten members to get the same price which is £1080 (schrick only), but if there is more than 10 then it will go down to £1076. But he also said that if we cant get no more than 7 then we will still be able to place an order at the same price.

So its now down to the chosen 7 or more to let me know when you can get the funds together before the order can be placed.

p.s. REFRAIN yourselfs from overspending at inters!!!!

i didn't ask about delivery will enquire with him at inters. as for fitting im sure if you know what your doing it'll be a doddle. but then its down to remapping which we will be able to book in with vince once we take place of those lovely torquey schricks.

Mind you polishing the schrick probably would be advisable.

Tell me about it! I've just bought a house, still need dish washer, mirrors, pictures, rugs. u know all the finishing off bits :? But them or the VSR? hmmm hard decision !dodge need more power. Besides you can always sleep in your car, but you can't race your house 8o)

The Shrick is only supposed to boost low/mid range torque - once the flap has switched over it runs just like a standard manifold. This also explains why the car would feel less powerful at the top end than before - it isn't really.

But going on Jule's dyno plot, the schrick does produce less at higher revs. Going by the dyno all it has done is move the power band down the revs, so the high end DOES appear to suffer. Is this right? Im confused.

JCorrallo's plot is interesting. I'm not sure about the Golf but on the Corrado you get more power and obviously a lot more torque. A recent dyno on a Corrado at Stealth with just the Schrick gave 202bhp (12 more than standard) and 192lb/ft at 3600rpm (42 more than standard at that rpm, 11 more peak than standard). The schrick sets the engine to run as 2 banks of 3 cylinders below 4000 rpm and as a 6 cylinder engine at 4000+. Therefore there should not be a *drop* in power past 4000. Perhaps Jcorrallo's manifold flap is not opening fully at 4000 or the engine simply isn't pulling in enough air at that rpm? Or possibly more fuel is required past 4000 as the schrick definitley pulls in more air than the standard manifold past 4000. All the plots I've seen with shricks give more power than standard past 4000. Strange!

The plot wasn't from Jules' actual car I think - as Jules shouldn't have any problem with air flow as he's running a supercharger. Either way - it's still a cracking mod!! The real icing on the cake is when the ECU is remapped and a gasflowed throttle body fitted.

I've edited my thread and removed the plot - As mina says, I've got a 2.9 with SC...

The graph was taken from here. This link is a page that has a collection of VR6 dyno graphs.

On the subject of that graph - I reckon thats the plot you might get if you went with a stock chip. As Vince said - when re-chipping for a Schrick, he does one run with the flap open and one run with the flap shut. Where the two plots cross is a good point to set the switchover. He can then also optimise the chip for each side of the switchover, which, at an educated guess, I'd say that example dyno hadnt had.

oh - and today I went to Inters - its the first long run (about 100miles) I've had in the car since fitting the Schrick - and am still agast at the wodge of torque I now have from 3000 to 4000rpms....! The back of the car really squats down now - I actually started to think I might break something...! :) When the Schrick has finished its job, the SC takes over and we're off again....! !amazed

Ooops, that'll teach me for not reading the thread properly!

The way Vince maps is a good method by the sounds of it. Hadn't thought of that.

I was quite lucky in that I picked up an ECU and big throttle cheaply from a VR that had already had all that done at AMD.

Strictly speaking, the ECU probably could do with another remap to fully customise it to my particular engine but as all the pinking has gone and it pulls like a train, I don't think there's much of a gain to be had with a second remap.

A supercharger *and* schrick must really kick arse!
