pinto 0
Looking for some help and experiece :-).....My 120K VR has recently developed a serious thirst for oil and im starting to hear noises from the direction of the timing chain cover when starting up from cold, so ive decided that it may well be time for the old girl to have a rebuild.Has anyone here ever attempted to do a home build on one of these engines ? what manuals are available/would you reccomend ? Where would I best be buying engine parts (rings, pistons, seals etc) ? Any helpful tips ?I know of a local engineering shop that is capable of doing the machining necessary, but im toying with the idea of an overbore to 3.0 ? is the standard 2.8 block able to take this ?Thanks for your help and advice in advance, peeps
badboyV6 4
think 3.0 is ok- no more though- the cylinder walls will become too weak... Bentley manual is the daddy of vr6 guides.... 30 quid from amazon iirc
jaysVR6 2
Be careful with piston and ring sizes as I've been reading 'blow by' on overbored VRs is common if not done properly.Big money for decent forged pistons mate!
