Yeah we live in Ayrshire and the car will have been the one you see going about, although there is another one now (a copy)!!!! It's my boyfiends mate that owns it, we got it a few months back, he swapped his Corrado for it, but the deal is that once we sell our other car we will be buying the copy black / white one for me so that we will have his n hers cars for shows etc.

The intermittent stalling was probbaly due to a dirty tb and/or sticky butterfly ;)

Possible, but I used to clean them regularly, to be fair I think it might have been the new throttle position sensor that came with the new throttle body. They're very fickle. Apparently they are the only switch/sensor in the whole loom with gold plated connectors. The other theory (not mine) is that the larger circumference of the new butterly allows slighly more air to bypass the butterfly, giving a stronger idle.

Just a little more info...

OBD2 - Sealed for life, can't do anything with it other than bore out the ramp. Not worth it.

OBD1 Corrado - Has an indirect throttle link that mimics the ramp of the OBD1 Golf throttle (opens slowly for the first few mill of travel and then opens quicker) and is a lot heavier on the pedal than the Golf throttle.

I found a guy 'Alpina527' I think his ebay username is. Basically we bought a ported and polished TB from Germany and Mr Alpina is gonna enlarge the butterfly from 64mm to 66.5mm. This apparently allows another 15% air flow. The polished TB seemingly allows the air to flow better.

You can just send him your standard TB and he will port it and enlarge the butterfly, but he doesn't polish them.

I will put up a comment once we have ours back to let you know if there is any noticeable difference.

Hi Pam, Just noticed the post and just had to read it. Glad you got some feedback from this forum. It seems like a real friendly place.

I am sure you will be happy with the body when you get it. :D

Just for the record. It's best to keep the Golf body on the 2.8 and the Corrado body on the 2.9. They both have exactly the same size butterfly both before and after I have modded them.
