purple highline monster 0
it will be hard/expensive for anyone under 20 to insure and large engined car, especially ones that are modified! thing is, statistics show young people (as well as some old people) get themselves into situations through lack of experience/poor judgement, not a slur on you or every teenager, but in the main most young drivers are risk takers who do not think of "what may happen" if they do something badly or for bravado in front of their mates, prior to making that silly overtake or losing control on corners or bends and causing accidents due to speed and their lack of skill or judgement, that is why insurance is so high due to the risks taken/percieved to be taken by the young by insurance companies (blame all the knob jockeys who drive like monkeys!), i had to pay £1000 to insure my first golf Gti in 1992!!! powerfull cars & lack of experience are not a good recipe for safety! i have seen the end results when it goes wrong! just wait and get your NCB up, prove you are a competent driver (to your insurance company) and then get your dream car! its hard to wait for stuff but unless your rich its gonna be a bit expensive to buy/run and insure! you dont have to own a show winning vr6 to go to all the shows and be involved with the v dub scene and i am sure your car is fine,
golfa 0
cheers m8 but you dont understand i will just pay the money fuck it you only live once id rather die happy than die wishin id done this and that and the end of the day money is only paper its just a credit u have u earn them then spend them and at 18 i dnt drink or smoke all i spend my money on is clothes so i might aswell get the car cos it aint like i got a hour to pay out for lol

bazz780 0
the quote of 2600 shouldnt bother you then, i tried getting insured when i got my first vr6 and i was quoted 4000 pounds at the age of 21.under 18 you are lucky someone is willing to insure on a group 16/17 car.all the best anyways. MrBen 0
That £2,600 quote is severely cheap at your age! Personally, I'd never want to spend that kind of money on insurance, but as you say it's your money!! Unfortunately, I don't think any of the specialists who most of us tend to insure with will touch you. For example, Brentacre won't insure anyone under 21 on a VR IIRC. These specialists run schemes with underwriters and need to keep the overall claims experience of their scheme to a decent level, in order that they can continue to offer competitive premiums, hence they are not going to take the risk of very young drivers in these sorts of cars. It's annoying, but it's business!
purple highline monster 0
heres another reason its so expensive! bloke in the xr poo i was (and still is luckily!) 18 aswell!
Eat this 2
theres was a lad killed his mate a few months back round here and that was on a pretty straight road!!
purple highline monster 0
speed is great just not on a severe left hander 5 up in a shit car with no idea how to drive!! luckily although injured people werent killed, i amsure it has changed somes life though, full of himself the little cock that did it though, utter prick. ther has been around 7 lads under 20 killed in my area in the last 6 months, all because they think they are fernando alonso in a 106 with a sticker on the door!! cars should be like bikes, get your ticket then progress to a more powerfull machine when you earn the right to, to many graveyards full of silly teenagers. vr6matt 0
Hey mate,I brought my VR last year when I was 19 and the insurance company where a bunch of cocks. I have no no claims as I have been a named driver on my dads policy since I passed at 17. The best people to get quoutes from are BELL and ADMIRAL. I was originally paying £2500 a year and limited to 1000 miles a year and was not allowed to use the car on certain days. I got well pissed off with it and phoned CIS and told them to stick there policy up there arse. I called admiral and have unlimited mileage insurance with the car valued at 5k and £150 quid excess for £1600pa. Much More reasonable.I here what you are saying beacuse I was willing to pay anything to insure my VR as I wanted something different to all the gay cars my mates had. I do not smoke or drink either and I think you will be happy with a VR they are awesome to drive and a lot of people admire them. Fuel is not bad really, its just things like tyres and brakes which can prove expensive!Good luck mate and do not let the knobheads at the insurance company put you off.Matt
purple highline monster 0
Admiral and Bell are the same company!! just incase you try to play them off against each other! "gay cars" surely "happy happy" "or a bit French" are more politicaly correct phrase`s
golfa 0
yea nice 1 matt im the same as u m8 dnt drink dnt smoke and want summin diffrent to my m8s lol i got done for speedin though so im gonna spend big on a car and get a v6 4 motion mark 4 golf and go on my mums insurance and use her no claims and pay the extra on her own car for a couple of years im with norwich union and they r arseholes aswell but then what insurance comapnies aint? there all try and get out of payin admiral wa my best quote on a vr6 but that was sayin doin under a 1000 a year like u and and that was still 2600 ill be payin 2200 on my mums next year for the v6 4 motion and at 18 with 3 points i think thats fair and im still gonna look around cos i aint in a hurry i dnt have a no claimes till august lol
purple highline monster 0
like all teenagers, hear what they wanna hear, and ignore good advice when asked for and then given!!!, good luck with your plan, just glad you dont live near me!!
vr6matt 0
Thats exactly what my dad said! lol I do not regret getting my VR at 19, some people thought I was stupid and I would not be able to handle it, but I have proved them wrong, took it easy for the first few months, and now I can drive it quick with confidence if I need to as I am used to it. I agree some people my age are silly and would get a VR and cane the nut off it and hurt themseleves or others and I do not condone that.

mike 6
I had my 1.4 golf 3 years till i got my VR (now 24) its a big step even if you are a good driver.youd be better off waitin a while but its your choice. theres no way around it, i pay 760 on the vr now but paid 1500 on my 1.4 3 years ago :@
Guest Robgreenvr6
the only other way is to get it insured under someone elses name, and put yourself on their insurance as a named driver. i was getting quotes of 2k and put it in my bro's name (27 no ncb, low crime rate area) and got insured for £750, just be aware that any damage YOU cause wont be covered!! Guest vento vr6 kid
try brentacre, when i was 18 i had a VR6 vento, ok so it was 3 years ago. but they did it for £1500 TPFT, that was with any mods and a 200 BHP allowance. ok so it may have gone up since then, but its still not bad. also maybe think about a vento, ok so it has a big boot (good for the sound system), but it will save you about 20 to 25% on a golf, just because its not a hatchback.
